Honest take- we had the team to make some noise and they laid an egg. Can’t spin it any other way; it sucks. This was a veteran squad and we lost a ton. Transfer portal can help, but will not replace all that we are losing.

Teams built strictly using the portal do not win titles. Utilizing it to get a player to fill a need could work. A lack of playing regularly together was evident in clutch moments from this team littered with transfer players. When things were working the sky was the limit. When they weren’t, we had no answers and would force things and end up scoring as much as a church league squad in the 1st half.

We won't be built strictly using the portal. We redshirted some talent, have a very solid class coming in, and we bring back some nice talent.

it matters not who he gets because we will still have ole Brad calling the shots. by seasons end, whoever he gets wont be able to throw it in the ocean, and the result will be the same.

Absolutely. No matter what they bring in, it's almost impossible to replace all that production with new people. Plus, we know how adverse he is to playing freshmen, so those guys won't contribute.

We have JZ back. That will help. Then the young guys will add quality depth. We may be able to replace who we lose. Maybe Wiggins goes and we upgrade there as well. We will see.

with the portal how could anyone possibly know that. good freshman class, good one coming in and the portal. no one knows how good any team will be.

They might win, but highly unlikely to bring in a championship at the conference level. If we want Clemson basketball to take the next step they should be regularly winning in the NCAA. I don’t expect sweet 16 every year but they definitely should advance past the first round. A conference title should also be in the cards. Until then, we will remain average to above average.

Before excuses pour in about funding. We just got schooled by a team that has never won a tournament game and scored the least amount of points of any team in tournament play since 1999. I’m sure our funding exceeds theirs by quite a bit and it didn’t help.

Unless we get coach with half a brain from the portal it won’t matter. We are losing veterans that played well for most of year but contributed nothing over the last 5 games.
