If Clemson loses to South Carolina, and Miami loses to Syracuse, then Clemson beats SMU...then Boise State wins out and Tulane or Army wins out, those two teams could be ranked higher than a three loss Clemson and would get in.
It isn't the power four plus a group of five (like it should be) it's the 5 highest ranked conference champions.

There are no conference locks any more.
It's the highest ranked 5. That guarantees at least one G5 team gets in, bit another could knock one if the P4 out.
The scenario is plausible.
If the SEC, BIG, Big 12, and 2 G5 teams are higher ranked than a 3-loss ACC champ, there's a good chance that the ACC champ gets left out.
We better hear the Coots and need a Miami loss to ensure that doesn't happen.

It is the 5 highest Ranked Conf Champions. There are NO guarantees!!! Hypothetically however unlikely it is it could be the say as the highest ranked Conf Champions:
Boise St
Army
Jacksonville St
Miami -OH
Louisiana Ragin Cagin
Your possible scenario is correct! If we lose to UofSC we need to hope Miami beat Syracuse or with that scenario the ACC will really look bad

The ACC is a dying duck. This may be the last year Clemson plays in the ACC. I hope the ACC dies and the charity case members end up forming a new league with some of the other charity cases across the nation and stream their games live on youtube free.
