you may be right. No matter what to me it was more interesting when you played everyone once in football and twice in hoops. That was the closest to a true gauge of who was best. Of course now with the ESPN wish to load the playoffs w SEC teams those days are gone. As is a major part of my interest

My opinion on conference realignment. Conferences play 9 games. 100 teams play in division 1a football. 10 conferences 10 teams per conference and like I said above 9 conference games with 3 being out of conference. 1 of the 3 would be teams like Furman or Wofford. 2 top out of conference game and 3 rivalry game if rivalry game is in conference then play another out of conference opponent. All conference champions make the playoffs. Then you have a wild card teams

SEC invites Clemson FSU UNC UVA after each apply
Big10 invites ND and Utah after ND realizes that they cannot get a decent schedule due to SEC & Big10 conf going to 9 conf game and their only option is ACC or Big10, Utah is invited to make 20 teams and gives a West Coat present for USC UCLA Oregon Washington
This give SEC & Big10 20 teams each
Seeing the writing on the wall GT NCST VT Louisville see their best option is to get out of ACC and the Big 12 wants to keep pace with SEC & Big10 and expand to 20 teams though not equal in value to SEC & Big10 in FB a very formable conference in FB and BB and other sports
ACC has to survive and Duke & Wake other remaining schools have no options to make a priority BB Conf and add best schools possible to make FB somewhat competitive so add S Fl UConn Memphis Tulane to go with the remaining 8 ACC schools to go to 12 schools
To try to say equal to the ACC the 2 remaining PAC schools convince 10 of the Mountain West schools to join them in the PAC to share in some of the revenue forfeited by the departing PAC schools and get rid of Hawaii and Nevada who bring nothing to the conf from economics of viewership
American try’s to survive and brings UMass to make 12 schools and this put Mid America conf back to 12 schools
Hawaii & Nevada have nowhere to go but Conf USA who are happy to accept them
That how it gets there and Duke and Wake and Stanford get left behind Vandy & Northwestern as it pertains to better conf because Vandy and NW are already in the power 2 conf
