I am not sure it occurs in every IPTAY lot, but it has now happened twice in Lot 10. I am arriving at the games 3 - 3.5 hours before kickoff.
QUIT BLOCKING THE PARKING AISLEWAYS WITH YOUR CANOPIES!! There is a reason they are called AISLEWAYS!!
Furthermore, don't glare at me as I squeeze in between your canopies and your fat butts sticking out into the parking aisle!
Also, if your cornhole board is in the middle of the aisle, GET IT OUT OF THE WAY!
I am serious, these violations are the first year I have noticed them in Lot 10.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I don't have a problem with tailgating stuff sticking out into the aisles a bit as long as people move them quickly when a car needs to get through.
I do have a problem with the people that show up an hour before the game and have to drive through thousands of tailgaters to get to their spot, which is inevitably right in the middle of the lot. They should close the lots at least 90 minutes before game time.

to the game eight hours early to get so blasted they can't get out of their tailgate chair to go inside the stadium for the game. The tailgating is great but it needs to be reeled in. Liquor trailers, multiple tents, chairs all over the place, etc. IMO more people are interested in building their tailgate city/fort/compound/TV cities/Christmas light villages in a tight ### football parking lot instead going to watch the football game. Head counts have shown in the past that approximately 30,000 people never go into the stadium. They just sit in the parking lot and see how much beer they can drink and how many deviled eggs they can swallow whole. I hope the new trend in pro football -- beating up people in the stands does not become a thing at Death Valley.

This is a very telling post. Cobbox just wants his close parking and access to Coach Brownell. And don’t get in his way being a fan any different way.

LOL! you just sort of described me. Although i'm not the one setting up the tailgate. I just like to go smooch off of other people's tailgate.

Sure you can. There are rules on when lots open, when they close, when student parking needs to be cleared out, traffic patterns, timing, and reversals...

Just get you a pickup with those huge tires and roll over any and everything in the path of your parking spot with the exception of the oversized humans, just get the loudest airhorn made and keep feeding them more air than is needed until they move!!!

I see lack of consideration with setup more all the time. In years past most would wait until everyone who parked past them had arrived before doing anything that squeezed the travel lanes. Once everyone is there I don't care what happens. By all means, spread out and enjoy. But I agree it is just inconsiderate to block the travel lanes before everyone arrives....within reason. As you implied, it would be way different if you came rolling in 20 minutes before game time. Now that's just disruptive in another way. Society is just changing I guess. Tailgaiting was way more of a giant group party just 15 years ago. Lots of sharing of food and drink. People would bother to get to know all the people that parked near them. More and more people seem to not want to do that now. It's not just Clemson..Its just about any place tailgating goes on. Shoot I have gone to Clemson games in years past where I never managed to get into my own beer because people were so hospitable they would just about drag you into their party. Or is that just me because I am so likable?...I think not.

Yep. But it's unsafe and massively disruptive to thousands of people. If you want to show up that late, there should be a separate, non-tailgating parking lot.

Maybe they should not buy a parking ticket to a tailgating lot if that is that is the case.

They are parking lots first…tailgating is simply allowed in said parking lots. 🤷♂️
Unless you want us to go the route of Ol Miss and have no cars whatsoever in the tailgating areas…

You’re right.
The whole tailgate scene has changed. It’s about having the tv, generator, crock pot, coffee maker, custom banners, fans, etc.
Where I tailgate with friends the last several years there’s probably 10 straight spots with “everything”. They all have tvs and are watching the same thing. Nobody talks to anyone except those in their group. It’s sad.

Well enjoy. This is the biggest reason I stopped attending games regularly. If they only knew how stupid it looks to play CORNHOLE. Everyone has to have a big tent, a big antenna to provide reception for their big old TV and of course a big old grill in between two big old coolers. I wish Clemson or Iptay would charge these football aficionados for 4 or 6 parking spaces. Venture to guess about 60-70 percent actually enter the stadium. All of this **** combined with NIL and the Portal…..it’s been ruined for a couple of years now. Hope your car starts when the game is over!

The same thing is happening in the McFadden lot too, where people decide to put their canopies in the middle of the lot instead of putting it on the grass strip in front of their spot.

SGA too and I complained on one of the post game questionnaires they sent out last year. I heard an announcement at the game asking for cooperation and for pedestrians to please give vehicles right of way. And I always show up late as I don’t have time nor desire to tailgate for hours pregame. I work to pay for the parking privilege and expect people to gets their butts out of the road. It’s really ridiculous when my car is behind them and they seem to not even hear. (Frequently on phones too) Signed Sister curmudgeon. Clemson grad 1984 Ps. maybe we could get rid of phones in the stadium too. Too much texting and selfie crap when we need to be making noise and engaging in the game Yea I’m old.

You’ll never stop people from tailgating the way they wish, and impose upon them your own notion of how it should be done. If that’s your objective, you should really just stay home.
Arriving late will *guarantee* frustration for you. It just will - acknowledge reality. Tailgating has become more and more elaborate, and people are actually having fun. They may think that arriving late is as stupid as you think cornhole to be.
People SHOULD be considerate and quickly get their stuff out of your way. I have seen many many people do just that, and honestly have never witnessed anyone refusing or being unhelpful. Maybe you’re not asking nicely?
If they’re uncooperative and actually refuse, then you have a real case, but I think I need video evidence of an entire such encounter before accepting that this is even a thing for people with reasonable people skills.
