I think he already has, but sounds like Cade is ready to be a team leader. Fingers crossed, it is an injury free QB room this year.

Perhaps every serious college football team takes the summer drills as seriously as Clemson, but I think that has been one of the differences for Clemson over the years, starting with Tajh Boyd. I want to see it again.

with No Coaches! Can see how this helps them get to be better teammates, learn what each brings to the team, hone their individual skills, create some competitiveness, etc.
Also, Dabo's praise if QB Vizz is very interesting what with: 1. he's fast 2. Can make every throw 3. Is gonna be very special 4. only 17!

Keep Riley for two years before he heads off to take a HC job somewhere. If he stays 2 years, we will likely be looking at back to back nattys. I’m not kidding. Our D is serious. Our O has talent, just needed an overhaul on the scheme and QB who knows how to lead and execute plays! Austin is feverishly getting our O line up to playoff standard. This team is looking really potent now. Klubnick and the offense has to be grinning ear to ear the whole time they are out there practicing.
There’s something in these hills… GO TIGERS!

On their own. This started years ago when the NCAA, in their infinite wisdom, put limitations on how many hours of coach led practices there can be in the off-season. Once they did that, the coaches put emphasis on the player leadership to conduct practices with the players on their own. NCAA can’t do anything to stop voluntary workouts by god!

Helms might be the best overall QB on the team strictly from what I’ve seen.
Cade probably has a higher ceiling but Helms is a solid if not pretty good darn QB.
Flame away!

CK has a higher ceiling and they want to see him reach his potential. And I am fairly confident he will because he has the right attitude about things. He is unafraid, willing to be coached and fearless. Not to mention he is extremely gifted athletically too. He just needed a little more time to mature into being elite at the college level. He is getting there and with summer practices like this, he will make huge strides.
And I will say this, if CK struggles, Dabo will not hesitate to put Helms in. You know why? Because Dabo doesn’t have to worry about CK’s ego or confidence. CK will respond positively in that situation and won’t lose his confidence or get butt hurt. In other words, we now have a healthy QB room mentally again.
DJ was too emotionally fragile and it affected his confidence when playing. Kelly Bryant was too self-centered, self absorbed. Those kinds of things play havoc on team chemistry. Thankfully we have 3 really emotionally mature QBs that all can start on any team - not just at Clemson. It is another embarrassment of riches. Just like our RB room. Now if we can shore up our WR room, we will be cooking with fire!
