I wholeheartedly agreed with Dabo's halftime rant to the team on the field at Miami. Win with class, lose with class. Maybe he should issue a statement condemning the student section chanting CLEMSO......mfingN during Tiger Tag. I would hate to explain that to young children. Not very classy at all, you think? Would it make a difference?

will have to address, as I doubt the administration could eliminate it unless the students agree.
In years past and mainly outside of DV, it was the old "Rat s..., bat s..." cheer, which defied more profane language. The way the "F" word is slung about these days, I don't believe our younger folks view its use as we might have.
My simplistic view is that there is a time and place for that which flows from our mouths. The wisest among us will know.

good friend - even by today's standards.
In the middle of a FOOTBALL game, our coach pulled the team aside & EMPHATICALLY stated that there were children & women present and that Clemson has a higher standard that must be upheld . . . to PLAYERS IN THE FOOTBALL GAME.
IN A FOOTBALL GAME ! ! ! ! And some of you are acting like because we are spectators we should expect less from ourselves & others than what we would be in the day to day ?
DO we have a higher standard as a fan base ? We SHOULD. DO we have a higher standard of excellence in ALL that we do because of our love & affiliation to a VERY special place ? We SHOULD.
To those chiming in as students or young adults with no kids - you don't get it now, but you will. I PROMISE you that you will.
As parents - WE UNDERSTAND - do you hear me - WE UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY that our kids will be exposed to ALL kinda things and NO we don't want them living in a bubble or under a rock. They will certainly hear it all & see it all & experience it all for themselves - WE GET THAT . . . .
BUT . . .
Taking them to a place that holds such a tight grip on the hearts of their parents and that is talked about with the kids with such reverence - & then having it sullied significantly by abysmal gutter language in THE SCHOOL FIGHT SONG is COMPLETELY below any kind of standard that supposedly we are all about.
Dabo WOULD NOT approve - your Grandmother would NOT approve - NO Clemson-respecting fan would approve of this behavior on any level.

I hate that d#mn chant and would never do it but I'm not whining about it because it's bigger than I am and if that's the worst thing chanted then I think we come out ok. If it was the whole stadium that's one thing but it's just the student section. You morons shouldn't sit near it if you get your feelings hurt by curse words. Do me a favor and look up neck - lsu. Bring children to a game and have them around thousands of drunk college students. Like I said I do not like the chant at all but it's only the student section and it can't be heard anywhere else other than the student section. At the end of the day you're the one responsible for what your children hear and news flash, they're going to hear some explicit #####. When they do hear it its up to you as a parent to explain to them why that's wrong and why they should never speak that way. People seem to believe parenting is the responsibility of those around them instead of themselves.

I guess if they are outside with other people and a #### movie starts playing on top of the neighbors house, I shouldn't feel upset about it? I would be shocked to find out if you even go to the games. In fact I would be surprised if you truly were a Clemson fan and not just one of those "well clemsons winning so lemme go put on a show like I'm a part of Clemson". I would say go to BYU but even they're not this prude and TCU is far worse than Clemson when it comes to things the students do or say.

We do sit near the visiting band. And last year a Coot female was spewing profanity from the get go as the game started. She was asked nicely several times to tone it down, that there were families and children that did not need to here this. Long story short after security told her she would stop or be escorted out of the stadium it stopped. She was p!ssed. But she stopped.
Once again i'll emphasize she was a COOT. So not unexpected.

I have seven kids. They started asking about 'adult words,' at varity of times in their lives. When they ask "What does ####, mean," it's the exact time to teach them that it's an adult word and they shouldn't say it.
The alternative is wait until you catch them using the word as their own. That means that someone besides you is teaching those words and probably their meanings to your children.
If your children are not grown, typically you have no idea if you're doing it right or not.
