So every time I buy a six pack of brew at Bi-Lo or the Lion of Food, they HAVE to put it in a bag, but when I buy one at Lowes Foods, I can just walk out carrying it by the handle.

What gives here?

Because I've noticed they don't put it in a bag at QT, but they do at Dodge's. In fact they fight you over trying to carry it out at Dodges. Wonder if there was some sort of new enforcement thing going on with places that serve food.

alcohol laws are weird. Here in VA, if you buy a bottle of wine in a restaurant,

and don't drink it all, law sez they must put it in a bag when you leave. So they use a bag like a wine bottle gift bag; it looks like a bottle of wine in a bag, not sure what the bag is accomplishing. Though actually some restaurants are kinda slack on following that law.

yeah, there's one Kroger here that has a tiny beer bar for filling growlers, etc

and they let you walk around wit a beer. Prolly great for impulse buys for them. The little bar seats about 6 people, kinda squeezed in a corner. Not a place to hang out or hope to pick up babes.
