Apparently Stewart Mandel doesn't realize.....

that Louisville lost more on offense and defense than Clemson did including seven of its eleven starters on defense. The difference is, Clemson has more quality depth behind the starters.

They do have 3 potentially elite-level transfers who will be active for their defense though. I think they're going to be a very, very good defense up front.
My honest opinion is that he has a point when referring to our defensive rebuild, but is overstating its significance because of the level of player we have coming in behind them. It would have been better to point to our extremely questionable offensive line.
However, I am kind of buying his claim of Louisville as a surprise team. I think Petrino is a fantastic coach and he's going to have his team as well-positioned as anyone even though they may not have the eye catching names that Clemson & FSU have. I wouldn't be surprised to see Louisville beat Auburn, and only lose to Clemson & FSU...heck I could see us losing to Louisville since we're going to their house on a short week Thursday night game.

will be more of ramp up type year, but could be special. What I am not following is people thinking the D is going to be terrible. Are they thinking that just because it happened to Scar that it will happen here? Feels lazy. Sure, Watson and Co are going to have to go out win games, not do just enough and let the D worry about the rest. We may have a barn burner or two.

His love for VT is equally as confusing. Yes, their defense is great. It was great last year as well, like it always is. There is zero reason to believe their offense will FINALLY be competent. Loefler is a terrible OC. Look at his resume. He was a dumpster fire in his one season at Auburn, and has fared only the smallest amount possible better at VT. The guy ran an offense that could not score a single point against Wake in regulation. Unless Michael Brewer transforms into Tyrod Taylor or even a Vick with their athletic ability to overcome that offense, I can't see a reason they will go 10-2.
Stewie is just fishing for some clicks and discussion with those picks.

And he has our record the same as Pitt at 8-4? With Louisville at 10-2 and winning our division? Laughable clickbait is laughable.

articles that other people write. He would then know that it's Clemson's strategy to play 2's and 3's as much as possible.

I can understand picking Louisville, but because we lost too many on defense? Didn't Louisville lose a lot on defense too? I believe they lost their entire secondary along with Mauldin, DuBose and Mount, and Todd Grantham is not a good defensive coordinator.

It seems like we are the only team that has to rebuild every year-be it defense or qb and they think no other team has theses issues. Ole siss shouldn't even be considered for the top 25 since they have no qb with any game experience what so ever. Screw these people.

Lol this is an absolute joke. They lost a ton of talent off that team and have #### near nothing on offense - Quick is their only threat at all and Bonnafon scares nobody.

Wow - how much credibility did this guy lose making those predictions??? Does he even watch football? And VT won't win the Coastal either. Sheesh - he's just shooting in the dark, hoping he hits something.
