Yep. Democrats are relieved it was not bad and republicans are asking how bad does it have to be to get some voters to cross over. So, it’s just kind of blah this morning.

It's your own fault for embracing Trump and kicking real conservatives to the curb. Maybe you will learn from this.

You know what Birmingham? I do think it’s time for the party to move on. Based on what we saw in Florida it looks like a lot of people would embrace DeSantis. He’s my choice.

Guessing this is going to put a crimp in Trump's big announcement next week. I think he was riding that hopium high pre-election and thought it would be a mandate for his return.

nothing left to do but migrate north to rust belt cities with cheap housing, turning them red. Just wait till that giant Atlanta ----> Cleveland exodus starts.

Expensive? what you mean

it's all fake money anyways, I mean people will still be maxing out credit cards and expecting debt forgiveness. I mean there isn't that big of a philosophical jump from student debt forgiveness to total debt forgiveness, even though those who think on it just a little know there is no way that can happen

Talking about the northern/California invader housing effect
Nov 9, 2022, 8:27 AM
[ in reply to Expensive? what you mean ] |

Half of Los Angeles is currently relocating to Nashville, thrilled to pay $750k for a house that was $350k 4 years ago because it would still be $1.4M in California.
Same with the northern effect on Charleston. It'll get to a point where it's too expensive for young people to have a chance in hades of buying a house, and at that point a little cold weather will be worth it to get 2500 sq feet for $200k in some Northern ghost town.

Actually I recently moved up to Ohio. I kind of like it, actually. A little nasty in winter but spring and fall are really nice. Doubt I'll be staying long but my next stop could well be Michigan.
Developers love them some Cleveland and Detroit right now. You can actually get stuff done and not get sued by fifty different (mostly liberal) activist groups. The cities are still kind of shabby and run down but you can see the massive redevelopment going on in both. Toledo as well.
The thing these cities have is cheap housing - a lot of it, they're only at around 85% capacity - and water, 'cause Great Lakes. Which is big, considering there's going to be an exodus from Southwestern states over the next years. Lake Mead is going fast...and it ain't coming back, and the Colorado River is running dry and that isn't going to get better either.
Actually Duluth, Minnesota is apparently the "climate relocation capital of America" right now. So your comment, while tongue-in-cheek, is probably not far off.
https://www.mprnews.org/story/2021/10/04/climateproof-duluth-why-the-city-is-attracting-climate-migrantsDuluth is attracting 'climate migrants.' Here's why Two years ago, a Harvard professor identified Duluth as a potential destination for future “climate migrants” — people who leave their homes due to rising sea levels or climate-related extreme weather. While initially met with some skepticism from locals, some people have already moved to Duluth because of climate change. And more are looking to come.

I really think we will see the migration patterns shift, based purely on economic interests.

Throw in an overdose of hyperbole and aged policy based on the 1980’s.
Hard to tell if this is a geriatric ward or a pediatric ward?

I think a lot were ready to rub people's noses in the results and it turned out to be pretty even. I'm very surprised. I'll probably post some thoughts later. Not that it will matter.

I'm pretty bummed to be frank....

the very fact that control of the Senate came down to Oz in PA and Walker in GA is just fricken embarrassing.
I'm still pizzed about losing the Senate last go around based on 2 seats in GA that should have been lay-ups for the GOP. I've typed enough about Trump's impact on those elections and dang it if it doesn't look like it's happened again.
GOP last I heard this morning on the way to work, so hopefully the Senate will switch control.

Fingers crossed the folks pulling the strings realize Trump is an anchor, and DeSantis' win was big enough that even the grassroots are starting to realize the same.
