Wow

Spot on, textbook, "don't rile anyone up" from Petrino. All compliments about everything, from crowd to both sides of ball, O and D. Sounds like from a PR POV, he gets it. Easier said than done. (Many coaches have not, to their demise, CPJ of Tech and Chip Kelly of N. Dame the most recent) We definitely have a huge test Sat. night - and so do they. May the best team win.

My biggest concern is will Watson have a better touch on the deep ball than he shown this year. That is what has slowed our offense this year. If he can connect on a couple long balls it will obviously open up our running game as teams have stacked the box on us this year. GO TIGERS!

What has slowed our offense is the traditional "establish the run" approach from the beginning of the game. Then, when they see that we can't run it, we revert to the pass and our receivers are covered up. All of a sudden, the 1st quarter is behind us. I like how we managed early drives against Ga Tech. We need to come out slinging it and then pepper in the runs. Predictor for our first play is a handoff to Gallman if we get the ball first. Predictor for their first play is a deep ball to test out our DBs. With the tall receivers they have, we will be tested often as I see us working to contain Jackson in the pocket. I sure hope we dial up a better plan than we had against FSU in 2013. I know our Defense is better this year than 2013, but we also had some guys like Jarrett and Beasley on that D-Line with Dodd and Lawson waiting their turns. We also had some guys named Sammy Watkins and Martavis Bryant. Boyd was pressured and rattled easily. Watson will be pressured, but doubtful he is rattled. Just hope he doesn't try to do too much in the way of wanting to grab the Heisman limelight from Jackson. I don't think he will - he's a great kid that is a team player first before he is anything else. I have a feeling this game ultimately comes down to turnovers and special teams. And our kicker better have his A game. Go Tigers!

I may be wrong, but I don't think Louisville's defense is as tough as FSU's in 2013. They were completely shutdown. I think the Seminoles gave up 13 per game. No way Louisville will be that effective this year.

I agree with most of what you're saying. But 2013 tigers d was no where near what it is now. Also, boyd was no where near as good as watson at qb. He couldnt overcome adversity. That being said, the first quarter of marshall v louisville, marshall got pressure on jackson and messed up his timing and he didnt look good. Marshalls offense just couldnt do anything so the d got tired and are NOT as well prepared as our d. I look for our front seven to hit jackson and hit him hard early. Even to the point of getting some roughing the passer penalties just to let him know we're there. You get him rattled and keep pressure on him and make him throw the ball, but mess up his timing cause hes looking over his shoulder expecting a big hit from one of our d linemen, and we've got him right where we want him. Disrespect twards us cause louisville are favorites in our house. Whole team is gonna be ready to go. Clemson 28 Louisville 24

Well, I agree that I hope he has a better touch on the long ball than in the other games, but the long ball is what keeps them from loading up the box. Just going after the long ball opens up doors, but connecting is a real dream. maybe we have a dream come true. Lord knows, we are due.

I do think we have some built in advantages in this game. Still, UL is very good, and they are on fire. I hope we catch fire, too, and come out of this funk we sometimes seem to have been in this year.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, he's learned his lesson alright.

Sep 28, 2016, 9:09 AM

In 2014 he compared our crowd's noise level to Syracuse, then they subsequently had a bunch of offsides penalties and wasted timeouts because they couldn't hear.

First answer by Petrino at the PF after this Sat game...

Sep 28, 2016, 9:22 AM

"What?"

I think it's gonna be louder than the last attempt to set the record (FSU in 2013). It will come naturally for this Sat game. Too bad that I'm not gonna be in it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well they don't call us a Deaf Valley

Sep 28, 2016, 10:33 AM

They don't that was LSU, they were so Deaf that they thought they were being called Death Valley well after Clemson's Stadium was called that. But they minus well call us Deaf Valley we so loud or Depth Valley because we so Deep but I prefer Death Valley because we so deadly.
