Cluckers shut-out of BCS history?
Dec 6, 2013, 9:09 PM

Is there any foreseeable combination of games this weekend that will allow the Dirtpeckers to sneak into the BCS before the era is over?
Or have they continued to underwhelm in football tradition?

Actually, if they get to the Cotton Bowl, it will be a nice coup (chicken coup?) for the gamecocks. If they play a game in talent-rich Texas, that would establish a recruiting pipeline to that area. BCS or not, Bowl money is pretty irrelevant these days, considering the huge TV contracts each league (well, most of them) splits among its members.

Lol, oversimplify much? Playing a bowl game in a state

suddenly establishes recruiting pipelines? No offense but that's ludicrous. Once they start playing A&M every year and maybe assigning a recruiter or position coach that region then a few years down the line you may see some tiny bit action out of that area. Or maybe if they had a coach on the staff from that area who already had pre-established relationships over there or something.
I agree with the other posters though, we have no room to talk with how our BCS performance went.

Yeah SC doesn't recruit Texas aside from somehow winding up with the kicker Fry. It would be cool for the program to play in the Cotton and awesome for the players to play in that spectacle of a stadium.

Really? Do you have any idea about college recruiting? I'll stand by my original statement. If you don't think that does help recruiting, just ask Dabo, or Jeff Scott, or even Chad (from the area) and Brent.

Not go to a BCS game or be known for giving up the most points in BCS history and losing by the widest scoring margin?
That is the question.

It means that we got a conference championship and that's nothing to be embarrassed about. Good or bad that game got us some press. WVU stomped us, but you're not hearing jack about them. Our program went in the right direction while theirs continues to go down the drain. I'm hoping we get to make a second appearance.
