If we can't get interest from the son of a former hall of fame player there is something drastically wrong.
We have lost out on a number of sons already.

No need to be so dramatic.

First of all, he is interested.
Second, we can't expect for a recruit to choose to come to Clemson simply because his dad played here. It doesn't reflect a problem with our coaches or their recruiting abilities. Sometimes guys want to go to a certain school, and sometimes they don't.
We missed on Larry Nance, Jr. So did everyone else. He wasn't highly recruited, and I guarantee you that Brownell would have been blasted on TigerNet for recruiting a "mid-major talent" like that.
Sharone Wright, Jr. seems firmly committed to Wake Forest. He was interested in Clemson and we were in his group of finalists. Again, this shouldn't be a criticism of Brownell. Sometimes a guy wants to go somewhere else and make a name for himself without living in the shadow of his father.
Relax, we'll be fine.

Out of curiosity...who are the legacy players that you say suck? That's what I call putting all your support behind our team and Clemson family. Smh

THses are the recruits BB needs to start landing if he wants to keep that job. He has lived off transfers but this past class I think he turned a corner by getting a good class of recruits that will be freshmen.

This is true, Dale played a more physical game, but Elden was a better skilled post player... as a college player, Elden was a player that JR Reid at north carolina could not outplay, and I watched those battles in the arena...

such as Larry Nance, Vince Hamilton, Horace Grant, Tree Rollins, Stan Rome, Sharone Wright, Greg Buckner, Trevor Booker are just some that could be given consideration... But no doubt, you can't have that discussion without D-Squared

No, I just didn't want to empty the Rolodex that could also include Billy Williams, KC Rivers and KJ McDaniels. Honestly, I would take Horace Grant before D-Squared, and that's based on being on the court with both. Dale was a stronger player, but Horace was a much better all around player and offensively...

teams play, but again, i didn't skip Skip, his name just happened not to be included... just like I didn't include Billy Williams, KC Rivers or Terrell McIntyre.
We've had some talented players to wear the uniform, to me, it's a difficult thing to truly try to rank them and have a clear No. 1...

Who was the first freshman to make first team All-ACC and the only Clemson player to make first team All-ACC as a freshman?

in any category, someone is going to be the first, and you should remember that until '72, freshmen were not allowed to play on the varsity squad... so, Skip had the benefit of playing as a freshmen when other greats before him were not even allowed to play as freshmen. Banks McFadden and Randy Mahaffey might would have become freshmen all ACC if they were allowed to play as freshmen, but we will never know... and those are two names that I didn't mention as potential all time greats either...
additionally, Skip only played one year, for all we know, that one year very well may have been his peak performance even if he had stayed, especially considering how things spiraled for him after leaving Clemson... many players have peaked as freshmen, never again to be the player that they were as a diaper dandy... so, it appears to me that you might believe that Skip is the best to wear the uniform, whereas I believe Skip is worthy of that consideration, but #1 isn't as clear cut for me...

lots of things to consider when you begin to talk about GOAT/best player. but if you ever saw skip, i don't see how anyone could argue he was the most TALENTED clemson basketball player.... EVER. period. end of story.
obviously, most talented may not equal GOAT, when you figure in longevity, etc. But if you asked me to pick one player to build around, no doubt its skip.

all things considered, as hindsight is 20/20, I would start with Tree Rollins, but that's just me... and for kicks and grins, here's my team:
1st Team: Tree Rollins, Horace Grant, Billy Williams, Skip Wise, Chris Whitney 2nd Team: Elden Campbell, Larry Nance, Trevor booker, KC Rivers, Grayson Marshall
