Do you think Mullen would start this year?
We have DBs to play opposite Tankersley. You don't pass up the Number 1 recruit in the nation/
PLUS IT IS NOT EITHER/OR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of this to me is a "status" thing and continuing to build the prestige and brand. Every time we "shock" the world, the better. Go Tigers!

If the quarterback can't get a pass of b/c nobody will be able to slow our d-line down, with what we have & if we add Gary, then it takes a lot off the DBs. Would love to land both of them though.

Both positions are equal to me. We still have CBs on the roster we redshirted plus the ones that were already on the roster. I trust Mike Reed to throw the best player out there to play along side Cordrea. Same could be said at the DE position

My thought was our secondary lost 5 key elements and our 'D' line is in much better shape depth wise.

Mullen will be a fine player, but he will not contribute next season if he were to come here. By the time he is ready we will have others ready to compete there as well. Gary is ready to contribute yesterday, and while DL is a strength for us, Gary is ridiculous and will affect games immediately. Gary > Mullen IMHO

You live and die at the line of scrimmage. It's why we lost to Bama. They were just a little better on the DL than we were. Plus, Gary would have likely been a much earlier contributor than Mullen, unless we forced mullen into a starting role too soon.
Stud CBs are a dime a dozen in CFB, stud DEs are not.

We are thin at DB and NEED an elite cover guy soon.
Yeah the mouth-breathers are going to get distracted by the #1 ranking... but we got the #2 player in the country who is another 5star DT... AND another top ten DT in this cycle. Anyone who would want another DT instead of an elite DB ( our ONLY critical need) is a horrible decision maker.
