Thank Goodness. Orlando was awful.

The stadium was a dump and dilapidated. Tailgating sites were terrible and only had one public restroom. The drive was long and it was filled with traffic. A poor excuse for a championship venue.

However, I'm disappointed that NC now has less pressure on it to repeal the law.

the only way to get the law passed is to take away
Apr 19, 2017, 12:49 PM
|

events that people enjoy is extortion. It tells you that people don't really care about the law..they care about the sports and the money it brings. Dirty politics is all it ever is about in these matters. If the majority wanted it to be changed it would already be changed. They don't care. So those who want it repealed know that so the best way they know how to make them care is take away things they enjoy.
If you lose then be a good loser. Stop holding everyone else hostage b/c you didn't get your way. Not talking about you in general but those who are still harping on this law. if I had to guess I bet the majority of people in that state would rather keep it the way it is.
But stop extorting people by taking away what they like to get what you want. that's not right.

It's only another money vs. morals issue

The ACC told North Carolina that they'll play that extortion game of taking away money if the state will take away its morals. Plain and simple.
These "progressive" demands of the alphabet groups - LBGTOWQHFDSKeeniemeenieminymo - are nothing more than regressive morals. We're heading back to a period where we were mere animals.
And the ACC leaders are otay with that. Because of money.

The law has already been repealed/modified in a compromise of both sides. That the reason for the change.

The North Carolina law was terrible and incredibly stupid, but it was foolish to move the conference championship. Glad it's back.

It is idiotic to base the bathroom someone uses on the birth certificate!
I used a women's bathroom just last week, no one was in the women's bathroom and the men's was occupied and in the classic words "I am over 60 year old and I knows when I gotta go", and i had to go!
I have seen women use the men's room in similar situations. It was a law based on bigotry not on logic nor morality. The ACC and the NCAA and the NBA were correct to provide sanctions.
South Carolina suffered under similar sanctions for decades when the confederate battle flag was flying on top of the State House.

The law gave private businesses the right to decide.

The Charlotte law that prompted the state law forced all businesses to have the same bathroom policy.
My business doesn't have gender-based bathrooms and I am pro-gay marriage but I don't think anyone understands the actual NC law. And I certainly don't think an entire state should be punished by athletic conferences for having certain laws that others don't agree with.

The NCAA and ACC are athletic organizatons and should not be expressing their political views.

The article says...
"Three of the ACC Baseball Championship’s 10 largest overall attendance figures have been posted at Durham Bulls Athletic Park."
I'd bet my life savings that the other 7 were posted in Greenville. Bring the tourney back home where it belongs!!!

Although their reasoning for moving games out of North Carolina was stupid…
Apr 19, 2017, 5:34 PM

I am disappointed that the ACC championships will mostly be in North Carolina again. The conference is way too focused on North Carolina, and it does not give other cities a chance to host. Plus, it is too much of an advantage for NC schools and their fans. Ridiculous.

You prefer athletic conferences do it?
Apr 19, 2017, 6:52 PM
|
|
And last I checked, NC voters can vote people out of office if they don't like the law.
