What is your #1 Clemson Fan pet peeve?

-The people that 'woo hoo?' -The people that raise their hands before "O'er" when we sing the Alma Mater? -The "sit down, we can't see" people? -When Clemson fans sell their tickets to non-Clemson fans? -Something else?

There is someone two rows behind us who has been reselling tickets to opponents way too often. I've had opposing fans (who were literally falling down drunk) tumble two rows into my seat at the 2014 UNC game, the 2015 Notre Dame game, and the 2016 USC game. Fortunately I was always standing up at the time. It was especially bad with the gamecock, as (1) he bent the frame of my seatback, and (2) it was during the national anthem.

Tie between the "woohoo" crowd & the "down in front" losers. The woohoo is terrible & a non tradition. The down in front people need to stay in their living rooms

Haha, no offense. But really who cares what people wear as long as they are they to yell as loud as they can for Clemson. Doesn't matter whether you wear a jersey, orange overalls, tshirt, your shirt off painted, a polo, a button up, or an orange tuxedo with a Orange fro.

they would be sold to a corporation. So some of those that buy season tickets yet don't go, sell theirs to a Clemson fan. Which is better than ending up in a corporation's hands which in turn sell them to opposing fans.

But the selling tickets to non-Clemson fans is really close as well.
One that really doesn't get talked about is the fat people taking over our seating area to the point we are almost crushed in between everyone (we're seated in the middle of our row).
Also, I absolutely hate when people don't start getting loud and they just sit or stand there in silence. It disgust me to no end.

Fans that get confused...
Aug 20, 2017, 4:33 PM
|
|
The guys with the uniforms- they're our team. They work incredibly hard and are held to the highest standard, one the most fans have never tried to match. They're there because they have been identified as extraordinarily talented and have worked harder that the ordinary person can imagine. The guys with the clipboards, they're the coaches. They're paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and are under enormous pressure. They're there because they are the best at what they do. Everybody in the stands (that's us T-netters and everyone else, we're the fans. We have one job- support our team. We do that by cheering. My pet peeve is when certain fans fail at there job, while at the same time, thinking that they know more about the other two jobs that those who've earned them.

The poor effort with the scoreboard tiger
Aug 20, 2017, 4:44 PM
|
|
1. It needs to be placed so that only the head, paws, and tail are visible 2. It needs to be touched up with some fresh paint 3. The eyes must light up and tail wag every time the Tigers score, run down the hil, or any time the roar effect is used.
We're only open for business 7 days a year, can't we get this right?

well, he is in HIS mind. And he lets everybody in his section know it. Shoulda run on a pass play. Shoulda passed on a run play. Shoulda gone for it instead of punting. Never complementary. NEVER.
Same guy(s) posts on here constantly during the season. You all know him (them).

The woo hoo is very tolerable to me. It's the a$$holes who can't enjoy CLEMSON football with one too many before the game! Thank goodness that problem is nothing like it once was. If you have to get drunk to enjoy a football Saturday in Death Valley, you seriously need help. It turns my stomach to see the frat boys showing their a$$ before every game. That ain't CLEMSON boys!

Pet Peeves
Aug 20, 2017, 8:52 PM
|
|
1.Tiger fans who have a strong vocal opinion about me selling extra tickets to the highest bidder (I have attended 10 or so games a year for 40+ years, home and away. Don't tell me how to be a good fan.) 2.Tiger fans who rudely and unnecessarily stand all game long in front of fans who want or need to sit. (if you are a stander who insists on always standing, I hope when you're old you remember what a jerk you were when you were young, especially if your spouse cannot stand for long periods of time.)
3. Tiger fans who get mad at the players or coaches when we lose.

This is one of the best parts of any college game day experience. The costumes are hilarious. I remember for the Notre Dame monsoon, people were wearing penguin outfits, snorkels and flippers and even a wetsuit. Enjoy them and laugh at them. That's why they wear it.

I have seen it and heard it on live TV during closeups of the student section..."C - L - E - M - S - O (M-F'ing) N" Case in point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2nSzDD4nWA Com'on people...you are about to be a graduate of one of America's most celebrated universities for both athletics AND academics...can't you be a little more creative than middle-school bathroom talk? Big time agree with this one. I was an older student that went back to school after military. When I heard the M-Fin...N I was like what the heck. That's plane trash. "I told the one dude beside me that we aren't USuCk. Don't be trashy."

Its not all that trashy.
Its especially fun when we have a close, frustrating game against a big team or hated rival. Its a fun emphasis on the fact that "yeah, we are Clemson, and we just kicked your...!"
I mean really, come on. Have you ever heard "The Rat Cheer?" It was the original Clemson "Cadence" Cheer that was around for over 40 years. Not to mention, the Cadence Count words are "fight, tigers, fight, ######, fight fight". After the band plays Tiger Rag, the drum line plays a beat called "Go Go get'em" where the whole crowd screams "Fight like hell, ######! AND WIN!"
Profanity has always been apart of Clemson cheers, it stems from the old military jodies. If you want to have a G rated atmosphere, go to Disney!

PC crowd who look at me in utter shock when I yell "You suck" in the middle of the GT band's pep theme song. First time experienced this was Dabo's first head coaching game, when he was the interim coach. It is a tradition and it is football for Pete's sake, nothing really personal about it.

Mine would be the grown men cursing at employees because they limit the quantities of Coke bottles to one six pack. Or cuss at them because they are sold out. It is equally as bad as pushing kids out of the way.

I much prefer to talk about the positive things, like......
When the Tigers run down the hill
when we eagerly await the kickoff.
when the band plays the National Anthem
when we spell out C- L- E - M - S - o - N
when we score a touchdown
when we recognize someone who has served our country
when the final whistle blows and it's another Tiger victory;
when we all get safely home after the game

Folks who think 'Fan Appreciation Day' should be staffed like a home game...and gripe Dabo should know better and keep the players signing autographs until they cramp because they're fit and also, the event should be held in the indoor facility, even though it's smaller than the stadium...and the weather should be cooperative for those waiting in line. Other than that...got nuthin'.

I didn't graduate from Clemson and I've never discussed sports with a Clemson fan that knew more than me. Former players and coaches being exceptions. I just mean the average joe. I am a lunatic Clemson fan some even say. I was blessed by having a family business to go into and didn't need to go to Clemson. I still go up there at least twice a month to see friends and what not. You don't have to graduate from Clemson to be a "fan." I know so many people that graduated from there, yet when we lost to Pitt last year they still were smiling leaving the game and didn't even seem to care. That's not a fan, just a spectator with a degree

I think 95% raise their hand at o'er... drives me crazy...
Noticed in the past few years it seems like we are recognizing someone every timeout/commercial break over the loud speakers. Other schools and stadiums don't do this. Although I think it is great to recognize people I believe we carry it too far

You're supposed to raise your hand at "o'er" and you're supposed to tuck your thumb to mimic waving a hat in the air.

Not sure if its been said but the family that shows up to the tailgate spot 1 hour before kickoff. Everyone is already settled in and having a good time on the row and here comes a big a$$ suburban. Show up at a decent time.

Bingo. The worst. Or people who are trying to come in and park in the West Endzone 10 minutes before tiger walk when the whole lot is a congested mess.

Drunk dbag frat boys being rude, esp to old people. Last year had one yell "F-off old man" to my 80 year old father because he was walking too slowly. Year before had a couple intentionally block my visiting friend's truck in.

refs in every single game... of every sport. Especially if we lose. I'll watch the same games and think it was evenly called or maybe even we got the breaks. Oh no, you log on Tnet and multiple threads about how we got hosed. Been on here almost 20 years and still waiting for the first thread in which someone says we won because of some bad calls against the opponent. It's freaking hilarious....
Seriously, if it were possible to do a query of all referee/umpire posts in the history of Tigernet, it would probably be 400 million "We Got Hosed" compared to zero admitting "Man We Got A Big Break Right There". And you know the ratio is really about 50/50, truth be told. We get about 1/2 of the bad calls, and our opponent gets the other 1/2.

The Woo Hoo is just about the only Clemson thing

that I would say annoys me. It's just terrible.
My only other pet peeve, and it is in no way a "Clemson" thing, is general rudeness. I see it on this thread. I love yelling and screaming at the game but if there are people behind me that just don't care to stand (have kids with them, etc) or can't stand, I accommodate them. If I can't stand and every now and then the people in front of me get excited and get on their feet, I look at the video screens for a few seconds. For goodness sake, don't put "m-ing f-ing" in the middle of Clemson cheers...there are kids present, and it doesn't belong there. Just work it out, people. Your experience matters, their experience matters.
Same with visiting fans. We're not at war...don't bother them if they aren't bothering you. Or better yet, be nice to them. Most of the time this is what Clemson fans do, but you still get the occasional zealot who thinks he's less of a fan if he doesn't put a visiting fan in his place.
Thanks for pointing to a soap box for me to get on!

At the 2015 National Championship game in Arizona, some older guy yelled 'MOJO' at me the entire game when I dared to stand and cheer for the team. Complained about his knees, not wanting to stand, and that we were ruining the mojo.
I typically have respect for my elders, and offered to switch seats with him so that I could stand without blocking his view. He declined, so I stopped giving a darn. It really took away from the game experience.
I won't participate, but I've learned to accept the woo-hoo.

People that want to stand up the entire game in front of my 84 and 80 year old parents, that have been going to games since the late 40's.
Sit down if everyone else is sitting down.
Try to be considerate.
