This is essentially the same thing everyone here freaks out about when an 8-4 SEC team is ranked. Now that it's Clemson it's suddenly justifiable.
If we are talking about pure power ratings, this Clemson team is probably top 15ish even with the broken offense. But polls aren't power ratings and the #1 factor in polls is still how many wins and losses a team has - with an obvious penalty for most G5 teams.

Sure. The teams i listed mainly because we wouldn’t be higher than 23 anyway with 4 Ls. but my god, if our schedule consisted of glorified varsity highschoolers then we would be. between them the only remotely competitive team they’ve played was SMU taking on then 18th-ranked oklahoma, and they got blown out of town. the whole thing is a joke. Just compare the AP to FPI

Part of it is that the teams we beat when they were ranked have continued to drop down the poles themselves. UNC for example.

It's like that with the AP every year. But you're right, any of the teams mentioned lost handily to the team (s) they played in a p5 contest.
Now if your point is to state how we'd fair against them, we would beat them handily.

Clemson played three … only three … noteworthy teams.
Florida State … lost the tie
North Carolina State … lost
Notre Dame … won
Outside those we lost to a medium Duke team and lost a tie to a medium Miami team.
It’s good to be top25, but our record allows us no room to complain about other teams rank … all we can really say is (grate your teeth) … “Wait until next year”

Not “the best”. Not who would win on a 1-1 match up at a neutral site. Nor if one team beats another earlier in the season they should be ranked higher. This isn’t match play or single elimination.
And for those complaining about bias…no ####. Of course there is bias because it’s opinion. And advanced stats are biased based on how they are programmed.

the problem is that it’s never properly distributed. LSU, for example, has won one of their ranked games and lost the rest. They have a strong strength of schedule but still came up short and won’t sniff a conference champ this year. All in all, very similar to our season, a little better result. And yet, the same polls that “appropriately” punish us for losing four games treat lsu like there’s 11 Jayden Daniels running around on offense
