We can't realistically compete in basketball in this league

anymore. There's too many storied programs who would all have to fall apart. A good luck run with some talented players in the ACC tourney every few years would be nice. Regular season championships will be very hard.
It's like usuc in football. Their rise can more be attributed to other powers in the league faltering who are now coming back to life. That's about the same hope we have in basketball.

We can sure as "h-e-double hockeysticks"compete more effectively in the ACC than we have done recently.
Lets hope tomorrow's is the breakout game.

Sure would be nice to win more than we lose. But, I can only hope.

Clemson needs to INVEST in basketball...

While I agree that new facilities don't guarantee on-the-court success, bad facilities guarantee failure. Look at what happened with football after the WestZone was built. Look at what happened at SC after they built their new baseball field. Virginia fits into that same category. Facilities are very important in the current state of college athletics. Clemson has done a very poor job with facilities for sports other than football over the last decade, it's time to catch up.

I think the model for spending for the future should be
65 percent football 25 percent basketball 5 percent baseball 5 percent everything else
Follow that for future building and we will be ok. Football, basketball, and baseball pays the bills.

But there are plenty of places...

where new facilities HAVE helped the program. And they grossly over-built when they built the Colonial Life Arena. Their new baseball field sure has helped their program hasn't it? Look at what the WestZone did for Clemson football. Clemson will NEVER compete in the ACC in basketball with the current facilities. Maybe you don't care about that, but the people in Jervey do, and they're the ones that matter.
