that he would often just sorta "sleepwalk" through a game UNTIL....
He would get hit hard....or get a cheap shot. Then it was Katie Bar The Door. You could almost watch his focus intensify from the stands. His motor hit high rev and he went looking....usually with unfavorable results for Clemson's opponent.

Got me thinking on other schools that have players there. We know uscJR doesn't have anyone, but I was definitely surprised to see SC State has more players than many big time college programs:
SC State - 3 AU, UF, UGA, GT, UK, UMD, Ole Miss, UNC, OKST, TENN, WSU, WVU - 2
Notables with only 1: Cal, UL, Marshall, TAMU, VT, WF

Oh yeah, I remember those crazy Saturdays in Death Valley during the 1979 and 80 seasons when Terry Kinard played in the backfield with the "swarming" defense we had then. Couldn't tell you how many times, of the many times, I heard his name called over the stadium intercom on a great defensive play, and I remember the intensity and dominance of that Tiger defense, like it was yesterday.

Thx again Mickey. Another walk into Tiger yesteryear. Maybe you should consider the position bests who excelled in the NFL. I realize the lists are different, but there will be some overlap.

I missed Willie Underwood unless he was in another position...he destroyed USuc and Carlen single handedly in the Valley to which I am eternally grateful to him.

It was probably too hard to pick which one was better for ranking purposes. I would have been okay with them both sharing the one spot.
