Why was Hamp Greene...

...in the game Saturday night returning punts? Nothing against the kid, but with a team of 4* and 5* players are we saying that we did not have anyone else available that could return punts? Also, why is Shipley still returning kick offs? When he runs, he looks like he is walking.
I get it, we want to try and play everyone as a reward but make that happen when we are blowing out teams in the 4th quarter not in the middle of a highly contested game against Miami.
Just venting the stupid decisions. I need to let it go and just post b00b pigs.,

Yes, I know, we don't blow out teams anymore, so we have to get them live action in highly contested games.

Shipley has so many fumbles he needs to be benched.

Let Maf have a full game and mix in the 3rd guy some. Dabo said they wouldn’t bench Cade for Helms which I do agree with that. But dang Cade is making some bad decisions at times.

Pure speculation, but the staff are in love with Shipley, and

Even if they think Mafah might be better, I suspect they know that Ship and his parents are such drama queens that if he clearly isn’t getting the lion’s share of the snaps, he will be gone.
Either Ship or Mafah almost jumped this past season, and I have suspected it was Mafah, but the way Ship is getting a puzzling majority of the touches, it makes me wonder if it was Shipley. Once Dabo makes a promise to a player and their family, it’s gonna happen.

When Antonio Williams hobbled off, that's when Greene came in. Everybody knows that Hamp isn't a game-breaker but obviously, he's trusted enough to field the ball cleanly. I'm not sure there's any more to make of that. As much as we like to question our staff's decisions, THAT one doesn't bother me given the circumstances.

It bothers me because this shows they have not been preparing other athletes to return kicks in case of an injury. Again, why are we preparing Hamp Greene to return kicks and not others who have more talent and the possible ability to break one? I get it, Williams was injured but his back up should not be Greene. We should have prepared others in case of injury. Remember, "We too deep."
Have we returned any kick or punt for a touchdown in the past two years? I really can't remember one.

I know this sounds weird, but it could be like playing outfield. I've never stood under a punt, but I played baseball, and some guys can almost instantly point to a spot where a fly ball is going to hit, and some guys have trouble getting under it. Can practice it, but cant teach it. A football is harder to catch, so if you misjudge even a few inches you'll drop some.
I was one of the latter, an infielder all the way.

Sure he's back there just to fair catch.

I get it, Williams went out with an injury. Have they not developed any of their 4* and 5* talents that could possibly field a punt? Someone with the ability to break one and take it back, not just someone to fair catch a punt.

I think they look at Hamp as their 'safe' option when needing to field a ball with consistency. Tyler Brown is a fine returner but he did have a muffed kick earlier in the season. The fumblitis hanging around this team has the coaches coaching scared.
