and in spite of 13 NCAA tournament appearances and a National Championship, he's still making less than $2.5 million annually. Brownell is making nearly $2 million annually for far worse results.

Rick Pitino left the Celtics. Yeah - I recommended that CLEMSON hire Pitino when he left the Celtics instead of OP, but hey - what the heck do I know? Of course we would have had to deal with all those wins and final four appearances and other stuff, but we would not have inherited BB.

Why would he want to continue coaching arguably the most historically relevant franchises in the NBA while living in one of the best cities in the country, when he could move to the sticks of the Upstate and coach a college program with little to no history of success in the sport?
Oh, yea.

Clemson lacks tradition and reputation for winning! We are known as a "football school." We also need to consider costs after having the current staff contracts to pay off over time.
Whatever happens Clemson needs a fresh start beginning with a solid coach and focused recruiting the next few years.
Go Tigers!

Hire a great recruiting staff please. A smart coach will use football momentum. We need a fresh start though. Smith is the best recruiter on staff.

Our remaining schedule sets up nicely for an NIT berth.
Jan 26, 2017, 10:27 AM

We should get an easy win Saturday against a floundering Pitt team that has lost 6 of their last 7 and then Georgia Tech at home. Two wins should build some confidence going forward. Our ACC schedule was front loaded and there are a number of winnable games remaining.
Don't think DRad makes a change should we manage to secure an NIT berth and possibly make a bit of a run in it.

Our standards are that low we will never have a good bb program.1 NASA and a run in the NIT and BB gets an extension. Good grief.

While he should have never been hired in the first place IMO, after seven seasons, I do think we've seen more than enough to satisfy ourselves that he's not the coach to continue leading this program beyond this season.

Actually I get it ... DRad should inquire whether ...

some very successful and high profile B-ball coaches might have some unknown motivation to leave their existing positions.
Maybe unlikely but Clemson should be prepared to act if an unforeseen opportunity arises.
