Bingo. Deshaun was awesome but he had alot more games where he had to undo his mess ups early. Trevor had what 4 bad games his entire career and only lost 2 of them LSU and Ohio State.

My favorite football player of all time regardless of any team is Deshaun. Just his instinctual control of the game is surreal and no way is human.
He got snubbed by Lamar for the Heisman, but he also threw 17 INTs in that season. So looking back, he made his own mess often. But he always got out of it anyways. Only if he somehow kept that “carry us” mentality all game every game.

Trevor Lawrence was every bit as good as DW4 at the college level . Don’t see it like you do. 1 Natty for each qb. Trevor Lawrence 34-2 at Clemson. DW4 was 33-5.

But let’s say u have both on the team at the same time and they’re both sophomores and you’re in a game down by 6 points with 1:30 left in the game who would u put in to lead the team minute offense? I love Trevor but deshaun played his best the bigger the game was. Anyways GO TIGERS!!!

Trevor couldn’t convert easy 3rd downs vs LSU.
Anyone with a pulse knew we had to score with them eventually. Their offense was gonna find a way. A 10 point lead should have been enough if we could exploit their soso defense. We didn’t.
Meanwhile DW4 just had the look of we are gonna go score and win this vs Bama. And did.

I think it’s unfair to compare TL and DW as to who was the better QB at Clemson. They both had excellent career’s at Clemson. Both had great games, made great plays, they both leads us to NC’s. Clemson was very fortunate to have both choose to play for the Tigers !
We are so lucky to have gotten them both !

Pretty sure both sort of regressed overall while at cu…I loved both and what they were able to do.
Also, the LSU game I swear to this day Trevor was concussed from the Ohio State game. He took multiple pops including a targeting. Just wasn’t himself and if he just has an a over average first half we would’ve really had a great chance in that game. We would run our QB’s more in the playoffs back then…
Not sure how much Streeter had to do with all that.

It's absolutely nothing against DW4, but it took him two games to win his natty.
TL won his as a Freshman. Yeah, he lost one to LSU... but it's not his fault that we couldn't stop Joe Burrow. And in the COVID year, we lost in the semis to OSU... but I think we can look back now and see that was the beginning of the offensive woes that eventually led to the big coaching change this week.
Both were superb college QBs. It's silly to troll thread to bring one down.

Deshaun had some great defenses, but we were not at the level we were at when Trevor was there on defense. And that showed in the 2018 Bama game with AJ Terrell pick 6 and holding them to 16 points. Put Deshaun on that 2018 team, forget it.
But both were legends, case closed.

Idk how it was misremembered but TL16 was the one who actually made the "resting starters in the 2nd half" a regular thing -- dude was dominant in the regular season on par with how dominant Peyton Manning was in the NFL during the regular season. TL never had a close game during the regular season so hard to say if he could do similar things in crunch time. He did have the comeback against Ohio State but there weren't really any other close games that gave him a shot to lead a game winning drive like DW4.
DW4 had more entertaining games and didn't have nearly as many "done by the 3rd quarter" games. For better or worse, DW4 was also sometimes the reason we'd be in tight games deep in the 4th.
That said, both are great and easily can be 1A and 1B depending on the day you ask me. I'd give the edge to DW4 too for clutch drives since we saw them for ourselves but it's like...
Do you penalize one great player because he was so dominant that games were almost never in doubt?
Or do you penalize the QB that had heroics but was sometimes the reason he'd have to put on a cape and will his team to victory?
Anyways, I wish they would've both went back-to-back on the CFP titles because they definitely deserved it.

Deshaun carried the offense on his back, Trevor never did that.
Deshaun always played his best when the stakes were the highest. I wish that was true of Trevor but it wasn't.
Trevor was better as a freshman, but in their last two years, Deshaun went next level while Trevor leveled off (more or less).
Deshaun definitely dug the team in holes with INTs, but he had less to work with on offense. This is one of the reasons he ran for twice as many yards as Trevor. He was also a better runner to start with.
We can only imagine if Deshaun had someone like ETN in the backfield all 3 of his years.

I disagree my friend. TL made some Big time plays with his legs. Without some of those TL’s runs we possibly could have lost those games. I would give them both the Title “ GOAT “. Both are once in a Generation QB’s.Bpth helped Clemson Win a NC !

I actually think burrow lsu team was one of those generational teams that no one was beating that year. I mean if you look at Georgia who’s final opponent was TCU. I think Trevor could have won 2 Mattie’s.
