Why do we let LSU use the name Death Valley?

I had a super weird dream last night that made me wonder why we let LSU use the name “Death Valley” for their stadium.
I was sitting at my customary end barstool, minding my own business as I always do, and some yappy young girl came in with her friends and ordered Cosmopolitans, Chocolatinis, Mojitos and anything else they could think of to annoy the busy bartender as if he had time to mix those instead of sliding them over cans of Michelob Ultra.
She used the excuse of my 2018 National Championship orange polo shirt to start up a conversation with me. I suspect she was fishing to see if I’d buy her and her friends drinks, as the joy left her face when I told her I paid for my pitcher of Miller Lite with my last $10.
She transitioned on a dime into a rant about LSU being the “real” Tigers and their football stadium being the real Death Valley when, in reality, we used it first. For those not aware, LSU didn’t start using the name Death Valley until after beating us in the 1959 Sugar Bowl, long after Clemson started using it. If anything, we should sue them for royalties they’ve made from slapping the name on tacky tee shirts, signs, hats and garden gnomes.
As for the Tigers thing, I’m pretty confident saying they don’t even have Tigers in the Bayou.
An argument at the bar ensued with me being kicked out as she yelled “Chad needs ‘ther-a-py, ther-a-py, ther-a-py’ copying the customary S-E-C, S-E-C, S-E-C chant yelled by their third tier teams when they win meaningless bowl games.
It was all very strange, but it led to a very valid question.

Why does Salifornia let us use the name? After all, they've been using it a lot longer than we have:

Didn’t become a national park until 1994. Add the US National Park Service to the lawsuit.

by copyright or trademark laws, as far as I know, the actual name Death Valley is not. If you have ever been through that part of California/Nevada, there are restaurants and hotels around the National Park that use the name as well.

That goes back to my original question. Why haven’t we trademarked it and shut them down?
Without all the revenue coming from the merchandise, they probably wouldn’t have been able to buy out Orgeron’s contract and their program would still be a ########.

It's similar to failed attempts by Penn State to trademark the name "Happy Valley".

We can settle it in 25 and 26 when Clemson and LSU play in football. That is if LSU doesn't cancel those games if the SEC goes to 9 conference games. We know how some of those SEC schools like to keep 3 cupcakes on the schedule.

I mean seriously, it's the name of a desert we started informally using b/c an opponent gave us the moniker. If LSU wants to be nagging, juvenile copycats - let them.
Remember when OSU recently trademarked the "THE," and Southern Cal wrangled the interlocking "SC" logo away from South Carolina in legal battles. I know SC is our rival but good grief, S and C are letters. Interlocking letters for various institutions has been a thing since time immemorial. SoCal and OSU are pretentious, entitled (b)astards. Let's not be that.

Who would win the court battle over the Tiger mascot - Princeton, Clemson, Auburn, LSU . ..?

Since Tigers don’t live in NJ, AL, or LA, it should be Clemson.

changed a little bit over the last 10 years, but that is still the majority. Just like how when people hear USC they think of Southern Cal.

Wonder what would happen if we added “deaf” to Death Valley? It would certainly get those LSWho’s attention wouldn’t it?
Welcome to Clemson University’s “Deaf Death Valley”
