I think it was all rigged. Smith was the front runner at winning the Oscar for best actor for King Richard. the whole theme of Richard Williams was how defended his family and Chris Rock and Smith had an idea to make his exceptence speech even more moving by having him do that before hand. With in the next week both parties will come out with public apologies and the whole thing will be over with. They don't call them actors for nothing...
