because by rule, the center must transfer possession to another player and our coaches decided it was best to snap the ball 5 yards back and let the QB handoff to a RB that would then run those 5 yards to the LOS to then try for the 1 foot we needed.

I am willing to take Chad & Dabo's word that DeShaun has not played well under center in practice .... but I have a related question. We have a 240lb tank by the name of Kurt Fleming. I know he fumbled once in the SCState game, but I think I would give him a shot on these short yardage plays. Opinions please.

I told my wife the very same thing on last evening. I keep hearing about trust but, after while, that becomes an excuse rather than a precaution. If Kurt is not ready in short yardage situation, then you practice him to near death, all week, in practice for short yardage situations. I think sometimes the coaches over thing these sorts of things. I love all of them though!! Having said that, I still believe we have a very strong chance to go 11-2!! #focused

that or have him lead blocking, the way Auburn does.

They power-run from the shotgun and seem to have success.
Hell, why run up the middle when the other team has 9 in the box in the first place? Aren't we the place with all the highly skilled WR's? Why not throw the slant or some other high percentage short pass?
Why try the one thing we really suck at, from the shotgun no less?

I am not by nature a second guesser , but I would also have attempted a short pass , maybe even the corner route w/Williams isolated on a smaller db. Anywho , our team has nothing to worry about long term on offense. We are talented as heck , and its going to show up sooner than later .

Soft O-line
No real power back
Smoke and mirrors offense that can't run basic power formations when needed.
