Why blame this on the ACC?

its not the fault of the ACC. We have played in the ACC for years. Danny Ford played in the ACC and the league was probably about as soft as it is now but CLEMSON was not and that's the difference. Back in the day, when we lined up and played UGA or some BIG 10 team in a bowl game, we had a reputation for bringing it. We havent been that team in over 20 years.
Swinney has no choice. We are in the ACC and the league sucks. That being said, until this year, we still find a way to lose a couple of games every year to teams we shouldn't but at least that improved this year.
The next step is to build a defense and find some crazy and nasty playmakers. RECRUIT! promise them immediate playing team. Do whatever but get them in the program and the coach them when they get here. Part of this may be letting go some Defensive coaches who are soft. Look, Stephone Anthony, Tony Steward and Lateek Townsend were on EVERYBODY'S recruiting list and we got them. Granted Steward has not been totally healthy but none of the players have improved at Clemson and none of them would see the field at SC. They are not physical and they were before they came to Clemson. What happened? That's got to be fixed.
Regardless, this program is where it is and the ACC is not going to change. Much rather be 9-3 or 10-2 in the ACC vs 6-5 or 6-6 in the SEC because that's EXACTLY where we would be with this bunch. We would then have a whole different set of problems.

Its not the ACC its the fans who allow it

You see all of us fans allow this to happen because we do not demand better. Dabo has lost 4 straight to the coots and yet no one is calling for his head. The clemson fans that I grew up with would have never accepted this. Dabo should be fired on the spot and Im not joking. It should tell you something when every chicken fan you talk to is glad he is at clemson and do not want to see him leave. Just ask one and you will see.

From 1981 to 1990, two ACC teams won national titles...

From 1991 to 2000, two ACC teams won national titles. From 2001 to 2012, zero ACC teams have won national titles. Indeed, the ACC has always been weak in football, but this current period is the weakest in over thirty years.

EXACTLY! The ACC has ALWAYS been weak in football and that's not going to change a whole lot. The DIFFERENCE is that CLEMSON was ALWAYS DIFFERENT. We played SEC football, physical, brought the hammer on defense. We no longer do that. The problem is not the ACC. It is us.

I really think the ACC was significantly better in the 80s. UNC, NCSU, UVA and even Maryland were at least on the fringes of the top 25 a lot of the time. This season, you only have 2 teams if you go all the way down through the "others receiving votes" section.
