Why are all these teams paying for recycled QBs?

Do coaching staffs not believe in developing current players on their roster?

I think its 2 things. 1. A lot of programs are not developing QBs. 2. A lot of QBs aren't willing to sit and learn.

Miami is just hoping to skip the line and pay for a QB to win them another title. I don't think Beck is better than Cam Ward. So I don't see this working out for them.

With Ward going pro, something proven is better than nothing. Something is a miss with Beck and the Dogs, why didn’t he just return there?

They won't until revenue sharing starts in July.

If they have a short term need and a transfer is the best guy they can get, that's why they choose that option.

If your team has a potential championship roster except at QB, you're going to get the best guy you can. That's especially true if you just lost your QB to the portal.

If you've got a good roster it's a huge risk to toss out an unproven QB that can singlehandedly destroy your season. If you've got the resources you're always gonna go with the known quantity. Beck isn't going to light it up like Cam Ward but he'll be a top 20ish QB next season , if he recovers from his injury, and that's alot better than hoping some guy with zero starts but who looks good in practice is the answer.

I look at it like this, if we had the opportunity to go our and grab a guy like Beck in 2017, I think we win 3 straight. instead we went with Kelly B who was limited as a passer it's fair to say. Fast forward to DJ and same thing. a Top level defense and solid team limited by a bad QB. I said that year and was laughed at that if we had somehow kept Chase Brice on the roster the only Game we might have lost that year was MAYBE Jawga. Point is, if a good triggerman is all you need to make a great (or even decent) season, you absolutely should do it imo.

They are puting on display their inability to recognize and recruit top talent.

I can't imagine why people don't understand and more appreciate Dabo's ability to find and develop natural ability and that being the main reason he doesn't transfer in dozens of players every year.

There's also a measure of integrity on display when he keeps those to whom he's promised a Clemson education and the best we can to to develop their skills.

I think it may be the pressure and expectation to win immediately.

Michael Penix, Kyle McCord, Cam Ward, Dillon Gabriel. Just to name a few. When you realize you missed on evaluation from HS and want to win today and not in a couple years these teams go and try to bring in an immediate starter. It’s proven to work.
