People arguing that Musk and Trump are doing this to make more money are off the mark. I don’t think either cares about the money. I think Elon thinks he’s right. I think Trump thinks he wants to be the greatest President ever. He’s a narcissist. His actions might do as Rice says, but not because that’s the goal.

because he places no value on the moral leadership of the USA. I think he considers that a marketing slogan, not a real thing, and when it’s just he and another leader behind closed doors I think it’s just “what can I get” that matters to him. So one day Zelenskyy is a good leader, one day he’s a dictator, one day he’s a beggar, one day he’s a salesman. It all depends on how much people do or say exactly what he wants or how close their pen is to the deal he wants them to sign.

thought they could ambush or pressure Z into signing a deal that did not meet the needs of Ukraine and did A LOT for America. Once they realized he is his own man and not subservient to them, I think they got a little emotional, a little bully-ish, and a little childish.

On the global stage. For better or worse, it’s been the continuity of US leadership, our ability to act as a credible threat deterrent that has kept the world from blowing up. That’s all been thrown out the window.
What will happen now is rapid shift towards rearmament, especially nukes. Any nation that ever signed a Budapest Memorandum with the US will start firing up their centrifuges.
Who can blame them after today. I wouldn’t trust the US right now if I were in one of those countries.
