None of us are coaches. But why is it easy to see what the problem is?

Wes is the problem..
He looks like a guy who sales ice cream. He is NOT a man's man... it would be hard to get behind a guy that looks like that in a physical sport.

Dabo is NOT going to replace, I repeat, NOT going to replace Wes. He’s already said as much. Wes and Conn are the defenses problem. imo

I'll be surprised if Dabo makes any changes at all. After all, he made the playoffs. Why would he.

Wes is not the problem. But, he is also not IMO - the solution. You only have so many pieces to play. There is no magic wand. Do you think that Wes told them not to tackle? Do you think Wes has great talent just sitting on the bench that could stop the run and he knowingly chose not to play them?
I am for change just because I think the dense needs a different voice. The defense looks shell shocked and they need confidence.

Roster management also depends on the players wanting to play for you. You can't just kidnap them and make them come here. We had five or six recruits leave this year's class. That tells you some other schools offer something more attractive, and we have to figure out how to counter that.

The problem is more that just linebackers.
The buck also doesn't stop with Wes, because he's not the primary recruiter.
The fundamental problem is that elite talent doesn't want to come here like before, and that more than just Wes.

We lack talent in certain areas, yes. We don't have the talent to be an elite defense, regardless of who is coaching.

Stop being overly emotional and actually read what I posted. I said they do not have the talent to be an elite defense.

Wes isn't the primary recruiter. Talent is a program wide issue. It's way bigger than just Goodwin.

None of us are coaches but we knew in early October our starting RB was hurting the team because he was injured.

I have to agree that our 2 deep talent level is not what it used to be. Our starters aren’t elite at every position. The thing that separates most players at this level is the coaching of the fundamentals and the players being willing to take that coaching. On defense you saw constantly DL & LBs out of their proper gaps, busted coverages in the LB & Secondary , bad angles of pursuit, losing outside contain, and poor tackling. On offense you saw lapses in pass and run blocking. Pre Snap penalties are also a killer. Bad routes and dropped balls also killed many drives. I have not coached at the college level and don’t strive to do so, but these are some basic things that I see as a 40 year HS Coach.
My 2 cents for what it’s worth. Have a great Sunday!
