Zero chance he gets this job

There's no way they'd take a gamble on him after having an off season like last.
He's not ready yet. A few more years in the cooker.

Then why even interview him?

I'm surprised, as I didn't think big-time football schools would think he was ready either, but they wouldn't be wasting time with an interview if there was no possibility.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him interview with a legit shot the next time the HC spot comes open. It makes a lot of sense to interview him and at least talk to him and get a good picture of where he stands right now.
Perhaps they'll bring him in as a HC in a few year after they inevitably fire whoever they end up picking this round.

going to put restrictions on their chances for advancement. It's been known all along that he would one day leave for a HC job. In my opinion, it's a little early but doubling your income has it's incentives. Like someone else posted, I think he's testing the waters at this point. AU-burn is about to do just that. He'd be walking into an questionable unknown. Good for recruiting, though.

NOT getting job interviews. You would have to be incredibly fortunate to have a highly successful coordinator that was happy to stay at your school as a coordinator. There would have to be special circumstances.
I'm sure Dabo understands, and hopefully he's putting some thought into who the next guy may be if and when Morris does leave. There's absolutely no way i would run him off just because he's taking some interviews.

I hope Dabo at least has a plan B. It seems like Morris is going to get a HC job offer very soon. Who does Dabo have in mind for a replacement? I hope we have time to go and land a good OC before all the musical chairs stop. I hope we arent left looking over everybody else's third and fourth choices.

The folks coming in can't count on him to be there as they grow. If he is going to be this quick to leave, then we should be finding someone now to replace him, and bring them in to at a minimum work as Co-OC. Since Chad has gotten so much publicity on our backs and is such a hot commodity, he should be willing to drop a little in pay to get someone as a quick back fill.
If that is not the plan, we should at least have a contract buyout. I mean, he is the highest paid OC in the nation, I don;t think that is asking too much.

Auburn right now. I live about 45 minutes from Auburn, and this is a rabid fan base, incredibly high expectations, and very weird and shifty board of regents (see Tommy Tuberville and then Chizik hiring). I would ask myself, what is the path to success? Short answer, beat Nick Saban and Alabama every year and go to SEC championship game. No thank you.

Dec 3, 2012, 12:57 PM

he's a head case but would be a surefire way to start competing with Alabama again. I'd say he would be better suited to have better behavior after his last public embarrassment.
To be holier than thou and not offer him an opportunity is just stupid. Somebody is going to scoop him up and get themselves back in the NC picture. IF Dabo somehow left Clemson thats who i'd petition for. If he would coach in the ACC then i'd be all about it. But that won't happen b/c Barker wouldn't let it happen.
Hope Auburn doesn't get him b/c we would not pick up any of their recruits but i just thinks it's stupid not to.

He used state money to get his spare piece a nice comfy state job under false pretenses. Thats a pretty serious infraction and a real red flag on a resume. He might not be able to get a job at a state school for a while.
