Whether you're an alumni or not, something that always

bothers me:
Just a friendly reminder, when we sing the Alma Mater, you're supposed to raise your hand at "O'er the mountain...," NOT "Echo..."
Alumni, students, and fans alike have been doing this wrong for years.
GO TIGERS!!

ALMA MATER SALUTE During Clemson’s early military days, freshmen wore rat caps and waved them in the air during every football game. Today, at the conclusion of singing the alma mater, students and alumni still wave their hands in the air with thumbs folded underneath as though holding a cap.

Hmmmm....kind of vague there....at the conclusion....will need to go to replay. But, since we are all being so critical here today, the thumb should be folded UNDERNEATH....

been doing it wrong. Never had formal training, just aped what everybody else did.
"students and alumni still wave their hands in the air with thumbs folded underneath as though holding a cap"
I thought you raised the hand with your Clemson ring on it (usually right). Plus if you are wearing a hat/cap, take it off your head and have it in the hand.
Again, no formal training or lessons on this.

"wave your hands in the air like you don't care" "Glide by the people as they start to look and stare" "Word up"
Love, Cameo

Traditionally, Clemson University students, alumni, and fans all raise their right arms straight out, and wave their hands, thumb in, back and forth during the alma mater for the last line of the chorus (most raise their hands between the last two lines). This tradition is a throwback to Clemson's days as a military college when cadets would wave their hats in a similar fashion.
There we have it. There is really NO rule, just what most students, alumni, and fans do. Case closed. NEXT........

it's hard to hear Dabo's post game catch phrases on TV when the local yocals are all surrounding him and singing out of tune in the background.
