Tug and Barge snow day : crew is lively

We're gonna go make snow angels after we finish our marvelous hot cocoas .
Barge is loaded with jet fuel for Andrew's AFB . Visibility issues have us anchored about 29 nautical miles downriver near Quantico .

A dedicated pipeline over there . Dock is located in the Anacostia river , by the south Capital St bridge ...adjacent to the National's baseball park .
There is a booster in-line somewhere along the way .
They take about 20,000 barrels twice a month ...although this shutdown has them taking much less as one would expect .

We have a crew of 5 ...myself and a steersman mate , a chief engineer and 2 deckhands .

Well we have 2 main engines so loss of 1 is ok (situationally speaking ) but the loss of 2 is potentially catastrophic .
Been lucky over the years and only lost one engine .

as a matter of fact I just took a train from Quantico Saturday headed to new jersey purchased a vehicle and came straight back.

Gotta take a raincheck on those beers , lol. Government and employer both frown on drunk captains pushing around loaded jet fuel barges .

No we load this barge in Baltimore . The Yorktown facility is no longer distributing Jet fuel , that end of the Chesapeake Bay now loads at Craney Island in Portsmouth .

LOL - Dug, you have to be a southern boy to think THAT is snow. I'm a southern boy and it looks like snow to me, but that ain't snow. That is just a 'dusting'.
