The worst thing is we would have won by only a TD. For the coaches, the embarrassment of not having started him sooner.

Cade would have saved us, why don't we risk losing some games so that Cade gets experience, what's the worst that can happen if we played Cade.
We're all brilliant in hindsight. In foresight, we had several chances to win in Q4, including at the end (up until Antonio Williams' fumble).
The coaches didn't play Cade because he hasn't show anything in either practice or the games that he's ready. Remember after Spring practice and again in the summer ... Dabo cited repeatedly that Cade's instinct was to run away from pressure instead of learning to stay in the pocket (i.e., developing pocket presence). Dabo said that Cade hadn't learned that his scrambling ... so effective during his HS playing days ... was not going to work nearly the same as in college.
Clearly Cade had not made that mental adjustment between Spring and Summer.
What did Cade do in the games? He didn't stay in the pocket, nearly always rolled to his right, and then got run down by opposing LBs and/or DBs.
Cade didn't learn in the Spring, he didn't learn in the Summer, and didn't learn in season. That's why he was not put in yesterday to 'save' us.
Cade isn't ready yet. Period.

So I’ll ask it again, what’s the worst thing that could’ve happened, lost maybe?

Dabo is scared Cade will come in and be good . After playing DJ all year it would make him look stupid at this point to play Cade. Dabo thought we would win despite DJ because of the crap teams we play .

Agree 100% .. he didn’t have an issue putting Cade in to save the Syracuse game.

DJ would not become the great man that Dabo knows he can be. Which would be a shame. We cannot fail him. We just need to stand behind DJ and be supportive.
