What makes him a higher rated QB than Chase Brice?

Jun 14, 2016, 5:26 PM

He does appear to be smoother, more coordinated. What else?

I'd imagine studying the nuances of 16-17

year old athlete is the same as anything else. You would have to be around it all the time to understand it. But how much "real time" do these recruiting services get with these kids? I was never great, but played golf at a pretty high level, but greatness sees greatness. Anyways, my point being it's harder for someone that doesn't play with scratch golfers every day to appreciate the difference in a scratch golfer, compared to those truly elite players while just hitting balls. After the round and they see the score cards, yes; there's quantifiable score to tell you how someone played. Good golfers can tell whether you're for real on the range before they bet you. Just the comparison as I've always translated it. These must be guys that are ex-talent evaluators or whatever. Some kids are pretty easy even for me to pick out, but I couldn't have told you Alexander would be shut down from game one. Christian Wilkins and DW4 were/are freaks at their age. You get good at accounting by doing accounting, engineering by doing engineering work. You'd think at least some of these "evaluators" are former athletes themselves- or at least you'd hope.
Short story long, that has to be what you know and do. Wonder how it pays?

Thanks the feedback, however I will go along with my eyes...

Hunter just looks smoother, more coordinated and definitely more confident! Superficial I know, and I am very open to more qualified observer! One scout said that if he walked on last year, he would have been DW4's backup immediately. Now that is high praise!

Sure. I can't tell you you're wrong, because that's not

what I do or how I make my living I give you the young man looks pretty poised throwing the ball. I won't claim to be an expert evaluator, but that's how I see it.

Brice is a really good QB, but Johnson is the best in the nation.

He ran a 11.06 100 meter dash this year, which while not flying, is plenty fast. So he has pretty good wheels, which obviously is a good plus for our team.

The difference maker between him and the rest of the QB class this year is his arm. The dude can absolutely spin it. He throws a beautiful spiral every time, on the money, and has one of the strongest arms I've seen in a good while. He has won the MVP at about 3 or 4 events this year, including the Rivals elite camp last weekend. I only watched highlights, but he was putting the ball wherever he wanted and throwing TDs against elite DBs. He is just on another level right now.

Having said that, Brice is not chopped liver. He doesn't have the arm strength Johnson has, but he throws an accurate, catchable ball. Two great pick ups, you never know how these things will work out, but we are extremely lucky to be adding both to the roster.

Good analysis, "the big difference is Hunter's arm & wheels"***
