Well coach one of these QBs will start distancing their selves from the other. Its your job to put the right one on the field.

No worries, Watson will get more playing time, Next year if Bryant don't beat him out in spring ball But look for Dabo's praises of we have good QB competition out there between the QBs. They will have to push each other during summer work outs, and maybe they will be some separation between them when fall practice gets here, and we can name a starter then to get the snaps in fall practice. What is the over/under of how many times we will hear this from Dabo after the spring game. And Nick Schuessler will be Watsons back up next season.

The 2 Headed QB Throughout The Season Is A Disease

This thing will always create divisions within the team and fans. Then when its all figured out, there's only about 3 or 4 games left in the season. Kind of leaves you wondering what might have happened if the whole team is on one accord.

Doesnt accomplish anything, except to admit that we are forfeiting a season in hopes of prep'ing for next year.
Either Cole plays and we are average (8-4), or we roll the dice and expect greatness.

While I largely agree, we don't know if Watson is capable of effectively leading the team TODAY.
We clearly weren't going to win the Georgia game with either at the helm, every down.
While I hate having two QB's, it is too early to give up on Stoudt, just to give Watson repetitions in order to be better prepared for next year. We are probably looking at 9-3 or 8-4 under any scenario.
If Stoudt gives us the best chance to win now, we should stick with him on most drives. But if we don't win anyway - say we take a bad loss or don't pick up a big early win (Louisville), then we should accept that we are coming up short this year and hand things over to Watson.

I don't agree with this reading Tea leaves thing......... I saw a freshman QB walk out onto the field was firmly in command and threw an NFL pro level TD pass on his first drive ever........ah.....Cole didn't do that! lol actually it was dink and dunk or qb draw. I know a couple of passes got dropped for Cole but.......simply put Watson looks that good straight out of the crib what happens after a few games firmly at the helm......He might be better than FSU QB & we have him on the bench. That's my only point... It's the eyeball test. I saw an NFL type qb in infant form...I'm not talking Geno smith or Tajh Boyd I mean like a real NFL QB. I know it sounds mean and all but he just played better and had the same spice as we are used to while he was on the field... with COLE I felt we were running an alternative version of GTECH boring Offense but with bubble screens and qb draws...way to predictable!

Watson: 2/4 (50%). Stoudt: 16/29 (55%) w/ multiple drops.

Both QBs threw some good passes and bad passes. Stoudt had a couple of perfect passes dropped. Watson threw a completely uncatchable ball into the dirt. Since Watson only had 4 pass attempts (50% completions), I'm not sure why you're so certain that Watson is better than Stoudt.
Watson's TD pass was NFL-caliber, but I don't know whether that was lucky or he can do that every time. Unlike Dabo in his early HC days, Morris has shown that he'll play more-talented youth over less-talented seniority, so I'm not sure why you think you know better about all aspects of their playing ability than the high-motivated OC who watched them play all through spring and summer.
If the 2 QBs are equivalent, then I'd say play Watson. I just don't know which QB was more qualified to take the helm in week 1 based on what I saw in week 1. So I'll defer to Morris.

All of Watson's passes were vertical. Of course you're going to have a higher completion percentage throwing confidence building bubble screens the whole 2nd half. Watson gives us our best chance to win, and I believe he should start.

2 drops stalled drive, maybe cost pts & helped fatigue our D
Sep 3, 2014, 1:36 PM
|
|
It's absurd to say that those 2 drops didn't affect the outcome of the game. You have no way of knowing that, and it defies common sense to think that sustaining a drive is irrelevant. If that drive had been sustained, we could have possibly scored points, quelled the crowd, swung the momentum, given the O confidence, and changed Pruitt's game-plan. At a bare minimum it would have helped flip the field instead of giving UGA the ball at their #$%@ing 47 yard line!

The 2 drops were in the first half by Williams. The defense wasn't fatigued in the first half. The defense become fatigued in the 3rd qtr when the offense couldn't move the ball.

Considering that, in the 2nd half, Watson ran twice for 6 yards, passed once for an incompletion, and got sacked twice consecutively, I'm not sure what makes people think that he would have done so much better than Stoudt.
I also don't understand why people think they know better than the OC who watched them play all spring and summer.

UGA can have true freshmen RBs ready to run all over us in the first game, yet we can't have a guy (Gallman) prepared to contribute one iota after a full year in the system? Yeah I know, hostile environment blah blah blah. They had freshmen contribute, we had freshmen contribute (in the hostile environment), they do it all the time. Just not understanding the easing-them-into-it thing, especially when they are needed sooner rather than later. I guess, for some reason, they really aren't ready, or perhaps, they really aren't that good.

Remember the coaches kept on playing Marquan Jones and Xavier Dye over Jaron Brown and Nuk Hopkins for the first half of the season. Also, they continued playing Kyle Parker even though his ribs were injured after the spear in the Auburn game and it greatly effected the way he played.

Another area Deshaun trumps Cole is in the read option game...I believe Deshaun only ran it once or twice but it was immediately apparent that Georgia's defense was in a bind because he could give to the RB, keep himself, or throw...That completely changes how aggressive a defense can be...With Cole in the game Pruitt wasn't worried at all about our running game and blitzed Cole continuously...And I promise you other teams will do the same because Cole doesn't scare defensive coordinators and they recognize we're one dimensional...Dabo has to pull the trigger on Deshaun, if not we're in for a tough season.
