I thought he shut down his recruiting?
His coach should have told Saban to back off and leave the kid alone

There is no harm in accepting an offer and expressing your thanks to the coach who called it in. That would be unnecessarily rude to treat a coach like that. The conversation, as reported, was on the up-and-up.

coming to his practices. What's he going to do ignore them and be rude? THis is a high school kid not a celebrity... he's not going to be a #### to the top college football program in the country, even if he is %100 committed to Clemson.
Being visited by Alabama is COMPLETELY different than visiting Alabama.

Okay - who in their right mind would tell the coach for the National Champions 3 of the last 4 years that you're not interested in anything they have to offer? Seriously? When did CLEMSON get that arrogant?
After last years' nkimdeche nightmare where he played us all year, anything else is child's play. Just let the chips fall where they may.

Alabama is going to come at this kid hard like a runaway train without the brakes even being installed. It is however, if and when he comes to Clemson, going to be interesting to watch the competition, between Watson and Kelly.

Alabama is not a good offense for quarterbacks

Nobody with Watson's talent wants to go to Alabama and be a game manager when he could play in a dynamic offense and be a star.

Everyone's "worried" because of what happened with Nkimdiche last year. This is totally different, with Watson being a Early Enrollee and no "family connections" (to put it nicely).

IMOH, he'll end up at Clemson. We have tremendous receivers and a wave of new ones coming in. Finally we seem to be recruiting some decent offensive linemen, and several of them seem to be actually be lifting weights. Our defense seems to be on the up-rise. With our passing game, if we can establish some type of running game, we could be formidable.

wants to stay close to home so if he needs to go home it's not a long trip. Clemson is 1.5 hours away, Bama is 4-5 hours away. Only UGA could compete with our competition level and closeness to home.
Not that he can't switch but it's making more and more sense that he wants to play here.

This kid isn't going anywhere. He already knows he can call his own shots and he hasn't swayed one bit. I wish he would...but being realistic he is Clemson bound. We will have to deal with this kid in the coming years.

He can win championships just about any where he plays if the team is solid across the board.

Alabama is the perfect offense to prepare a quarterback for the NFL.
But I agree most hs prospects are more interested in glamour than preparation.

classof09,you say alabama is the perfect school for preparing qb's.Tell the board how you arrived at that comment.Schools with pro type passing offenses can prepare one better. You are a usuc fan and you did't even say your master, sos could prepare him better.

Bama's Right DeShaun..but you can win a NC at Clemson too!

So astute & talented young Man..keep thinking about where your heart has been for a long time..playing for the Clemson Tigers which you profess to love & where you want to play.
Stay steady DeShaun so to give all your talent & time & skills to your high school team where it may be able to win the Georgia State NC...and then on to Clemson to do the same from 2014 on.
gOtiGERs!

The fact alabama hasn't recruited an elite NFL calibre qb is irrelevant to whether or not their offense is suited to prepare a quarterback for the NFL.

I can't show you anything if you're ignoring reason. There are tons of 4 and 5 star qbs each year and very few become starting NFL quarterbacks.
Based on your argument Carolina has a better offensive and defensive system than clemson because we had more guys drafted in the NFL draft last month.
That's illogical. It was more likely that we had more talented draft eligible players than clemson.

You said Bama was a great place to prepare a QB for the NFL... I say show me a good NFL QB... You can't... The original argument was that BAMA doesn't produce good QBs, based off the last 30+ years of evidence...Your comparison was way off base, shocker... The PERFECT place to prepare a QB would actually put a couple in the League...
