1 Corinthians 9:24-25

New International Version (NIV)

The Need for Self-Discipline

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

In this verse Paul was explaining to the Corinthians that the prize is the honor and glory of eternal rewards.

I hope he's not reading NIV.

If the KJV was good enough for the Apostle Paul, its good enough for me.

This is great that he wears that. And, I applaud him.

Sep 18, 2012, 2:01 PM

But, why does it have to be cryptic? Surely, he is not scared of the ACLU or other criticism. He is quit vocal about his faith.

Just wondering.

I suspect you picked up a Bible and looked it up.

Or, got on line and looked it up.

Or asked someone about it.

Me, I'd have to get my Bible and look it up. I'm not really good on memory verses. Also, I still look at the table of contents to see where some books are, especially those not referred to much, or very small books.

I dont view it as cryptic more of just a cool way to write it.

Its a cool verse though... Even coming from a non Christian.
