Since everyone is in the name changing mood, why has the name of Herman McGee not been mentioned. I had the privilege to meet Herman back in the eighties. What a great person all Clemson!!! I would be in favor of changing Tillman Hall to McGee Hall and naming the honors college to Herman Honors College. How about that??
I believe Herman already has a statue or bust somewhere in the athletic area. He was a figurehead in the athletic realm of things because everybody knew him and loved him. However, he was in athletics and not academia. Just my thoughts.
I like that idea there are several prominent African American heroes in Clemson's History. I think it is time some of them were honored. Another that I can think of is Clemson's first African American Harvey Gant. Can you imagine the courage it took to be the only African American on that campus in 1963 we have really come a long way since then but we still have a ways to go.
