Note on how Clemson's recruiting tends to turn out

Feb 14, 2022, 11:00 AM

Clemson football communications director Ross Taylor put together this table of recruiting re-rankings and the upward trend you tend to see with the Tigers:

I'd like to see who continually re-ranked lower

Miami's pretty comfortably in that group it looks. Double-digit rankings below their initial for the previous two re-rankings and not even in the top-25 for the one before that.

What about Georgia?

They always seemed to underachieve over the past 10-15 years relative to their rankings.

They have one of the lowest single-year drops with the 2015 class, with a 19-spot fall to 25th in re-rankings.

Lately, the Athletic has rated two of their three classes from 2016-18 at or above their previous ranking (No. 1/No. 1 for 2018).

THIS is ALL that MATTERS! How they performed is what counts

Thanks for sharing this.

What is the methodology used to re-rank?

Feb 14, 2022, 12:22 PM

I don't have a sub to The Athletic any longer.

"The scoring system for grading these classes remains the same, a 0-to-5 scale. We’re assessing scholarship players and walk-ons who earned scholarships by what they’ve achieved in four years, not projecting what they could do in the future.

5 points: All-American, award winner, top-50 NFL Draft pick
4: Multiyear starter, all-conference honors
3: One-year starter or key reserve
2: Career backup
0: Minor or no contribution, left the program

Because class sizes vary, we focus on class average (total points divided by total signees) as the measuring stick. A wins bonus is added to each class based on its four-year record. The attrition rate listed counts all signees who left school due to transfer, grad transfer, dismissal, ineligibility or injury."
