Clemson vs SMU

As bad as we’ve looked against competent teams this year, I believe we win this game comfortably.
My reasoning is simple: the talent gap will be too much for SMU to overcome, especially in the trenches.
Our interior defensive line + TJ Parker on the edge should be too much for SMU’s OL to handle. I believe the athletes in our secondary will matchup well against their WRs. Their offense will have to scheme ways to make explosive plays happen. They don’t have the talent to just line up and beat us.
Offensively, I don’t think their front 4 should cause problems for our OL. Matt Luke has been a godsend this year. Our OL has actually been really good. SMU doesn’t have the dogs up front to wreck havoc against our OL. And there’s no way they have the athletes in their secondary that can match up against Antonio, Wesco, and Moore. UGA, South Carolina, and Louisville all had great defensive lines and CBs that could match up against our WRs in man coverage. SMU does not have that type of talent.
SMU has not been at an athletic disadvantage this season like they will be against us. I believe Dabo will get the team motivated because of what’s left to play for in front of them.
Our athletes are better than theirs. I expect to win by a lot.

I am more worried that Wesco gets the cash he wants to play in his hometown

We will have more money to offer Wesco. I’m confident that he stays.

Don’t under estimate their OL and DL. Hopefully our experience and familiarity of playing in the ACCCG at BofA stadium helps give us an edge.

FSU is the only team that is “close” to our talent level. But they are a disaster.

We've played common opponents and they have fared better in all of them.

FSU, Louisville, Stanford, Pitt, Uva. All were by about the same or more point differentials.
SMU can play, and we will have to play very well to win.

My point is that none of those teams have the talent level that we do. They don’t have TJ Parker, Peter Woods, Payton Page, and Demonte Capehart.
SMU’s OL is going to get shocked by our front 4. And I don’t believe the inverse is true.
Clemson dominates both lines of scrimmage and wins easily.
Just my opinion though.

I expect a competitive game for sure. They do give up a lot of points and I agree with your analysis that our offense will have their opportunities. On D, we need to get pressure on their QB, deal with his scrambles better than we did Saturday, and our secondary really needs to show up.
As you pointed out, we match up well. We are comfortable playing in Charlotte, and a short ride for us. It also should feel like a home field advantage.
The coaches should have us pretty riled up after Saturday. We could have a very good day; I certainly hope so.
