Well, tonight was disappointing since we could’ve really used a win.

If I’m being honest, this was not a game I expected to win when the season started. Beating a highly ranked ACC opponent on the road is a tough task, especially when it’s UVA.
I believe we were certainly capable of winning tonight though, we just didn’t get it done.
UVA is a super frustrating team to play. Their defense makes it tough to run your stuff. And their offense is opportunistic, with just enough shots made to kill you if you aren’t shooting lights out.
I’m really bummed, but I do feel that we are a good team. We deserve to be in the NCAA Tournament with our body of work this year, but I think it’s probably going to take beating Notre Dame this weekend and winning a game in the ACC Tournament.
The wild card is what the selection committee prioritizes this year. Having a moving target every year is really difficult, but ideally we would have done more to ensure that we don’t have to sweat it when the selection show comes on.
I still believe in this team. Let’s get our top 4 slot for the ACC Tournament and go from there, shall we?

Yes!! Sunshine and rainbows!! We love the direction of our program!! Everything is perfect and we have no one to blame besides the devil himself!! Dabo is the worst and the reason we lost tonight.

...but would have sealed the deal. I also agree that we belong in the Tourney given the total body of work.

That was CBB playing chess while the rest play checkers. A win drops UV to a Q2 win. A loss within 10 keeps it to a Q1 close road loss, probably moved up.

Judge, for all the grief you get, as well as give, you’re right about the team. This really is a good basketball team, and it is one of the best Brownell has had at Clemson. Honestly, I think it is ever bit as good as the Sweet 16 team, minus Grantham, from 5 years ago.
The unfortunate thing about this NET crappiness is unlike the CFP, it doesn’t seem to take injuries into consideration. I would love to have known what this team could have done had Hall been 100% at season’s beginning, as well as not losing Hemingway for over half the year (and he’s not remotely in good basketball shape at present). I also wonder if Clemson would have lost the one or two games they lost with Hunter hurt and the one game lost when Galloway had his very unfortunate injury. If the committee were fair, they’d consider this, and maybe they do, but I have not heard anyone reference it.
No matter, no one will convince me that Clemson is not one of the 30-34 best at large teams available because they are. And, after seeing what I watched tonight, the fact they didn’t quit when many a Clemson team would have folded like a cheap paper bag and been run out of the gym when they went down by 14 with less than 12 to play, I’m even more impressed. In fact, if I didn’t already know the utter abysmal reality of the history that is Clemson men’s basketball in the ACC Tournament, I’d be tempted to say they might just win the whole thing this year . . . So, even though it flies in the face of history, logic, and sanity, I’m going to say they win it (the ACC Championship) this year.
*** (And, yes, I know all the Tarholes love to distinguish and clarify a difference between “Regular season champs” and “ACC Tournament Champs,” if I’m not mistaken, the Conference by laws clearly establish that the ACC Tournament is what officially defines the Men’s basketball, conference champion. I also heard that “Regular Season Champs” thing was a nod to Dean Smith and his teams that were often prone to be unable to win the Tournament even though they often dominated “regular season” play). Maybe that’s true. Maybe it isn’t, but it sure sounds like it should be.
P.S. Oh, who am I kidding. They’ll probably lose to the #12 seed by 18 points on Thursday, but I’m keeping with my prediction. ACC Champions in 2023! History will be made. (Maybe)?
P.P.S. Even though this won’t happen (yes, it will) I’m proud of this team. Your man is a good coach, regardless of what your haters and his detractors say. I’m pulling for him. Seriously. 🫡
P.P.P.S. Lay off Dabo come the fall, ok? 😁

and head into the ACCT on a roll. I rather lose to them now and hopefully get revenge in the ACCT! Let's hope we make a deep run.

A post like this during football season earned me cult status from the OP.
As I said the other day, this game was going to be a tough win because of the way VA always pressures the ball. I hope we win the rest, as always.

Agreed. I believe pur 4-3 record vs quad 1 proves we can play well in the tournament.

The VA D is very hard to get many good shots. They do a good job of moving you off your spot just enough so the refs don't call many fouls against them. There guards were aggravating on D to say the least. Plus, it looked like their D moved Tyson slightly out of his shooting range on some of his 3 pointers. Clemson's bench is very limited offensively, we really don't have a 6th man that can score at all.
Good effort in playing to the end. This game is not the one that keeps us out of the tourney if we don't make it.
