I think it's pretty cool, just hope they put her in the last group, lol
My dad's last round of golf was at the National. He was already having some pretty significant health issues, so he barely broke 100 (from a guy that would shoot mid-70s there). Not a bad way to go out.

Well the sport is dying so if you want it to continue as a big deal

Then young people have to want to play. Sure there will always be the pro golfers but you need the normal people that golf so they want to watch on TV.
I watched the last 4 holes last night and that’s about the extent of my golf viewing for 2024.

My point is it will continue to drop over this decade. Let’s mark this post for 2030

You said courses closing is evidence of popularity waning, and then you

linke an article that shows popularity increasing and courses primarily selling due to offers from developers too good to turn down, and not lack of demand.

how can something clearly on the rise "continue to drop"?

from the very article YOU posted about couses closing....."Golf rounds in the United States through October are up 3.3 percent in 2023 compared to 2022, according to Golf Datatech, which surveys thousands of courses to track the health of the game."
It's too early to say if 2024 will be worse than 2023. Maybe it will. But the current trends say no. If it does, it's probably more because of the effect the flailing economy is causing, not folks suddenly deciding to quit playing golf. Like the main reason these courses closed - the real estate is more valuable sold off as residential homesites.

I wouldn't lean on this article as justification for your incorrect position.
your position is presented with a ton of bias b/c you don't play golf.
you can't objectively say golf is dying, there's nothing that supports that. in fact, the data goes the other way.
golf will remain what it's always been, with a slight fluctuation in participation as a % of the population that tracks with demographics (to your point) and broader economic conditions (it ain't cheap).

It’s not lasting. I guarantee the number of golfers will continue to decrease over the rest of the decade. As boomers die
