Stripping people of their citizenship....

We all knew this was going to come. Every one of us knew it.
https://www.axios.com/2025/06/30/trump-naturalized-citizenship-doj-immigration
In the past, this stuff was reserved for mostly extreme cases....examples: Nazis who fled to the US, and hid their past.
But Trump is about to shift this into overdrive, and probably use all kinds of pretexts to get people stripped of their citizenship.
The people that voted for this....how many of you are actually surprised?

If a person lied on citizenship application, their citizenship should be stripped.

Not sure why denaturalizing terrorists or those of a similar ilk would cause anyone heartburn. Your own story said this started ramping up during the Obama administration so its not like Trump just dreamed up this whole process out of thin air. Sure I suppose it could be misapplied but let's wait til that happens before we hyperventilate about how horrible something thats already been going on for years is just because Trump is now in charge of doing it. This is yet another kids in cages scenario where lefty kooks pretend this only just now started happening when it was going on well before Trump. Step away from the computer and take a nice walk.

The issue is how Trump will do this. He's going to explode the # of cases and violate people's rights in doing so.
He's been violating rights already, left and right. This is just more of it.
Citizens are not safe. That includes the people that post on this board.

People who are naturalized citizens and have obeyed the law and

followed the rules should not be denaturalized. I agree that stripping an American citizen of their citizenship, regardless of how they acquired it, requires very special, extreme circumstances. Still, I have no problem with those who have abused the very special privilage they have been granted and pose a threat to fellow citizens being sent packing.

but I fully expect Trump to list anyone he disagrees with a national security threat and strip them of their citizenship and kick them out. Sign an op/ed he doesn’t like? You’re gone. Vote for the wrong party? You’re gone. We all know where this is going.

Crash the problem is this: he may not do it because he will be blocked/stopped one way or another. The fact that he even thinks it’s OKAY to do it is the real problem. That kind of thinking, giving no thought to the law or others rights is ridiculous and un-American and we all love Murica don’t we??? That immature fool is a big bag of hot air who thinks he can make his own rules. Such a touchy little whiner he is. It’s so embarrassing to have a president that speaks the way he does and posts stupid crap on social media 🤡🤡🤡

Along those lines, Nazi war criminals scooted out of Germany whenever they could and came to the Western Hemisphere.
On this side of the ocean, those same escaped Nazis lived lawful lives.
By your standards, those type of people would make fine American citizens, despite lying about what they did in their home country (or in a non-American country where they may have also committed crimes).
Think for a minute.

I actually gave that as an example of the bar that historically had to be cleared. I am all for deporting Nazis who fraudulently gained citizenship.
The issue I have is how Trump is going to take a process that has been used very sparingly, and he'll turn it up to 11 and abuse the process.
You'll be cheering him on, for sure, as he violates the rights of citizens and non-citizens.

The standard which you cited (actual WWII Nazis who emigrated to the Americas) is an arbitrary standard defined … arbitrarily … by you.
If not an arbitrary standard, by that I mean that you defined THE standard as being actual Nazis who escaped Germany and lived as law abiding citizens in their new home, then does that imply nothing less severe gets justifiably booted?
xxxxxxxxx
I say that vetting everyone means that no Tren de Aragua people get a toehold in America. Same with El Salvadoran gang members. They may end up living non-criminal lives in their new home USA. I don’t care. They don’t deserve to be here and eventually get to benefit from our generous social network.
Hundreds of thousands of serious law breakers snuck into America. Those that were not serious law breakers still broke the law to get in here. I don’t care not support the serious law breakers hiding amongst the other less serious law breakers as a means of not being caught.
I don’t care not believe that the problem from terrible people getting into and staying in America is justifiable because they can use less terrible law breakers as their ‘shield.’ A bunch of the severe law breakers will be identified as the broader sweeps take place.
I want the risk to Americans from terrible law breakers hiding amongst the ‘regular’ law breakers to go away.

Stop putting words in my mouth, and start being honest.
You want security and safety. Sure, everyone wants that. But you're willing to throw away our rights in order to get it. And we're not good with that. The vast majority of people being detained in Trump's ICE camps are not criminals, and certainly not violent criminals. And many of them are here legally, and some are actually citizens.
You need to stop worshipping Trump, and open your eyes to what is actually happening in this country.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ice-detentions-non-criminal-immigrants-violent-crime-convictions-analysis/
Why would we trust any administration that is already trampeling on our rights to stay within the lines on denaturalization? We know what's going to happen when this ramps up, and it will be ugly. Many innocent lives will be shattered.

As for your little story we didn't take in their war criminals. Their war criminals snuck in using false names and identities. When we find them we turn them over for prosecution, to this day.
