Dabo said:

“We try to teach our guys, use football to create the opportunities, take advantage of the platform and the brand and the marketing you have available to you. But as far as paying players, professionalizing college athletics, that’s where you lose me. I’ll go do something else, because there’s enough entitlement in this world as it is.”

It was one heck of a ride!

... and see how the system is established.

If he decides it isn't for him, I wouldn't blame him one bit. If he decides he can still impact teenagers and help them positively transition from boys to men, within the new system, then I suspect he will stay.

Dabo's priority, in spite of what people think about him, is not to win games or make money. Winning games is necessary for him to have the ability to mold boys into men. Making money is a nice benefit of winning games.

But, Dabo could walk away from Clemson tomorrow if he thought there was a better opportunity for him to achieve his priority. He'll be fine. Coaching football is what he does. It is not who he is.

There are aboslutely places Dabo could go tomorrow where is true priorities could be met - and with little pressure from school administrators or the fanbase. Dabo knows why he pulls down 11.3 mil per year. Its to win and win big.

Sorry, but your post does not pass the hate dabo test. He is doing it
exactly the right way. We are, as I have stated before, an elite QB from
greatness. And without one we still won 30 games the last three years.

Lets remember in a 12 game season in 2020 the OL could not get travis a
1000 yard season. Why did we get to the playoffs?, an elite QB. So do
what you do Dabo get a QB that can make a difference and it will all be
great again.

Clemson's lacking in a number of offensive areas compared to our "ELITE" teams

WRs have taken a massive step back
RBs have taken a step back
QB have taken a massive step back
Oline?......eh? we were never that great there anyway.....decent, but never elite b/c we had ELITE at WR, RB, & QB.

just one elite QB WON'T solve all our issues..........that's just from a talent standpoint, not to mention the NIL/portal negligence.

Again, wrong, look at the WR roster in 2020, no Justin Ross, he was hurt.
AJ Williams, Frank Ladson,. You can complain all you want, but Dabo is correct.

Dabo is proceeding correctly under the present circumstances. Get good HS
athletes, and offer a few portal guys to fill holes. Exactly what Dabo has
done. It is very likely from the way things are going that College football
will become more like the pros. When that happens, I have no clue which way
Clemson will go, or for that matter, which way College footbal will go.

in 2020 we had a QB and no elite WRs.........got our a$$ handed to us when we played a real playoff team and not insulated by the ACC.........similar happened against LSU the year before although we had better WRs we only scored mid 20s on a mediocre defense with an ELITE QB and ELITE RB.

just face it......our TALENT now is nowhere close to even our 2019/2020 teams........let alone our 2015/16/18 teams.

Stetson believed in himself and made his dream a reality. However - gotta give the staff some credit for helping him develop into an NFL caliber (at least a back up for now).

Stetson Bennett, 29 wins 3 losses as UGA starter. Like I said
in this era of college football, it takes an elite college QB
to win IMO.

Bennett was underrated but I don't know of many people who think he was an elite QB. A lot of very good QBs would win big with Georgia talent.

I'm not trying to suggest QB doesn't matter but there have been some national championship teams who won with probably less than great QB play - UGA, a couple of Bama's championship teams, Michigan last season. Problem Clemson has had is poor oline play, not particularly great play at WR, and a QB who has been mistake prone.

I think if you build your program around an elite QB your team will fall apart once he leaves. Hard to be consistent focusing on one position. Clemson had a run with a series of elite QBs that is not often seen. Even those elite players have to be coached and developed. Developed by the staff and the hard work of the talent around him.

Building the “elite” team has changed (don’t like it but can’t deny it) and if Dabo does not find that elite (and rare) talent you speak of then he is hanging himself on past history, not the future. JMO

(Reminds me of an old joke: “How many Charlestonians does it take to change a light bulb? 13 - One to change the bulb and 12 to stand around and talk about how nice the old one was.” )

Feel free to find the semi-pro team of your choice. I for one agree with Dabo’s philosophy so I’ll stick with the way he runs Clemson football. Maybe Kirby is more your style.

But yes set in his ways. I certainly hope he adapts to the changes, and returns Clemson football to elite status.

If not, I don't know what either his future or our football program will look like.

Heat of the moment comment. We all have them. Him leaving is at the bottom of the list of things to be concerned about related to CFB. If he thinks he can still make a difference and be a positive influence I think he still has a lot of tread on those tires. He will leave when the passion is gone.
