Friday night, dinner and a fire with friends.
Saturday, up early to load up and go to NCHI beer festival. Not as fun as last year, football can be blamed.
Sunday, back home and were pretty useless the rest of the day.

Friday night we....can't remember.
Saturday I worked half a day, then we divided and conquered. Wife to Sam's, me to Pube Licks. Reconvened for a salmon feast, then watched a crap football game.
Sunday was church, and in the afternoon we travelled to downtown Jefferson, SC and got a puppy.

Friday - sister & nephew in town and we went to opening night for our local minor league hockey team. Raised last year’s championship banner. Won 4-0. Huge crowd. Fun.
Saturday - a brisk 5K to start the day, then some work, karate, and a trip to Fresh Market. Scored Spaten Oktoberfest. Grilled low, slow bbq’d coot whilst drinking beer on the deck with the missus and sister. Ate dinner then fire pitted with smores for those who wanted them. 8-12, you know.
Sunday - worshipped Jesus, napped, sechsed, generally chilled. Good dinner of veggie chili. Watched an episode of Lupin. Early to bed.
Great fall weekend with one notable exception.

Friday - Drove to Knoxville. Went to Dead End BBQ for some burnt ends. Do wreck or mend. Do not wreck or mend I-26 & I-40 in Asheville 30 miles took the better part of 90 minutes (consturction/traffic).
Sattidy - Went to the Farmers market downtown. Pretty cool offerings and rather large. Good crowd. Consumed a Bloody Mary (tax on drinks is about 30% !). Ate lunch at Calhoun's on the river, came back and watched bad football.
Sunday - Drove home, not through Hippie-ville. Went the Cullowee/Cashiers route saved time and was quite senic leaves wise. Stopped at Buc-ees in Sevierville. 20 minutes to get in/park, 20 minutes in the store, 25 minutes to exit. 1:05:00 of time I'll never get back. Plus, the don't sell brand (except Sunkist and Dr. Pepper) at their fountain drink stations. Won't be back.
9.77/10 (18.563/19 on the RH Covids scale) with major deductions for Asheville and Buc-ees. Bonus points for hanging out with Daughter_of_Wilbur.
Would due a gin (differently tho)

Fri night was pizza and movie night
Sat - Soccer practice in the morning, went to the lake to celebrate MIL's retirement
Sun - Church in the morning, dinner with fam to celebrate birthdays, then our family of 4 went to the lake for a short fishing adventure. The weather was awesome but the fishing was as productive as Clemson's red zone offense.

Friday, just relaxed to get over vacation. Phillies, the AEW, then crashed.
Saturday, caught up on household chores mostly. Watched Clemson, wasn't shocked at the outcome. I knew what our fate would be this year after Duke game, the cream puff games confirmed it.
Sunday, grocery run, errands, then Thirsty Beaver. Got there early to watch Mac Leaphart shoot a video for his next record. After the shoot he came outside and we chatted for a bit, then went in and watched him play a spectacular set. Back home to watch Fear The Walking Dead, then crash.
I'm not going to let a soft, unfocused, unprepared, fundamentally unsound, poorly coached football team completely wreck my weekend so 17.5/19 Covids.

Went to Charleston. Went to the new African American museum on Thursday, Friday Lewis BBQ(great), walked all around on a bunch of random streets checking out homes and whatever, and then Folly at night. Saturday drove home, but stopped by Rodnet Scott's in Hemingway. I had pulled pork. It was dry and average. Watched a terrible Clemson game at night once home. Sunday NFL.

Pretty good, Friday had tomahawk ribeyes & nice wine at my brother’s house, Saturday hung out & watched football, grilled some chicken leg quarters, Sunday farted around the yard a little, watched some good NFL games, made some pasta for dinner that turned out real nice.
Most exciting thing though, I booked flights & hotels for a two week trip in May for me and my wife. Being able to travel is definitely my favorite part of finally being out of training and settling into work, the job change & move screwed up travel this past summer.

Yeah I mean if it’s the weekend, and I’m having a nice steak, I’m going to have some wine. Mid week, or a mid steak, meh, can go with or without the vino.
We’re going to fly into London, stay there a few days, take the Eurostar through the channel and go to Burgundy (staying in Dijon) to explore our favorite wine region for a few days, go to Bern and explore Switzerland for a few days, then back to Paris (her favorite city) for a couple nights and fly home from there.

We took a day trip from Zurich to Bern cuz US Embassy. Had to get a temp passport.
We walked all over Bern. Cool city. I did miss out on the chocolate baths at Lindt though.

I can't fathom cooking a nice steak and not popping a nice bottle of wine. Almost like not sparking up a cowboy killer after a rough, go get em session in the sack, nomsayin?
but srs. I think this sober stint will also be a stint with not-so-nice steaks. Just going to figure out how to do other beef recipes instead and save my first steak for my plunge back into alcoholism.
trip sounds like a banger. hopefully the bed bug situation is cleaned up in Pairee by the time y'all get there. I think we're at least another year out before trans-Atlantic travel again. probably going to keep it in the lower 48, or maybe the Caribbean, for this coming spring.
I'm earmarking summer 2025 for an Ireland trip and plan on bookending that w/ a day at The Open.

Friday ate Korean BBQ. Then relax and crashed.
Saturday got up and fired up the smoker. Smoked a small butt, plus threw on some onions and apples. Kept that up all day fighting temperature and watching FB on the patio. Finally ran out of wood so foil-wrapped butt and finished in the oven for last few degrees. Then cooler rested and shredded about the same time Tiger offense really started to suck. All came out tasty but it was late finishing so didn't do more than taste that night. Next time I use smoker I'm going to get a pellet with electronic control (GMG probably). Done with the stick, just too much work to try and hold temp. Tiger FB lol. Rest of CFB was entertaining. Wife-of had dinner with a friend in from out of town so she was spared having to watch. Turns out she saw more of a ######## than I did.
Sunday up early and out the door for hike at Table Rock with Son-of. Beautiful day. Nice hike and got back in time to smash some of the BBQ from the day before. Wife-of had made mac and cheese and beans to go with, plus slaw. Excellent.
Relaxing, spent most of it outside, good food. 10 out of 11.

Deposit your man card in the box on the left when you trade in your smoker for an outdoor crockpot.

The Rest of the weekend wasn't so bad.
Saturday- Watched a bad football game. Sunday - Recovered from the hangover and started back work on a coffee table for one of the UT Basketball Coaches' GF. Will hopefully finish it and the tap handles up this week.
Also started recording content for the woodworking business automation youtube channel (5 minute automation projects). Gonna work to have 25-50 videos posted by the end of the month for the automation channel, which should hopefully help when I start the series tracking me through all of 2024.
If you're interested, here's the link to subscribe on youtube: https://youtube.com/@3gracklesdesign
I'm expecting to start pushing out videos in the middle of November to hit the content strategy, but still have to send a lot through editing.

the Keys are amazing, the food, views, and the weather was perfect
Bahia Honda state park is the ####, very little people and amazing water
conch fritters, conch seviche, multiple conch chowders, fish chowder, stone crab claws, multiple hogfish dishes, key west pink shrimp, spiny lobster, ...
everything has already probably been said about the game, but the weirdest thing is they play this whole video in the 4th I think and everyone I mean everyone sings along, oh and they say #### alot

minus Clemson
Fri - pizza night. got frisky w/ the wife
Sat - up to a punken patch. also had Tharealdonjuan's amigo come and spread some dirt in the yard to start my level process. amigo charged me less than it'd cost to rent a trailer....no brainer.
nothing of value that afternoon / evening.
Sun - said naw to getting in the woods b/c up late and tired. took kiddos to park before the riff raff showed up and hung out w/ some frands.
got caulk blocked my MIL for the first time ever. she showed up while the kids were napping.
WHY DID YOU DO THAT MIL THAT'S WHEN I'M SUPPOSED TO BE RAILING YOUR DAUGHTER
had blue balls while watching my parlay card just get wrekt. KC covered to make the weekend a scratch, no harm no foul.
cooked burgers.
no alcohol boys. big achievement haha. to be honest / fair, I did slam some better than booze cbd drinks so I don't think I was technically sober, but I was never hungover which was the goal. I think I can make it three more weekends now that I know I'm not going to GAF how Clemson football finishes up.

Friday...son-of had 3 friends and daughter-of had 1 friend spend the night....so was a bit hectic. On of son's friends had a birthday on Friday...his homelife isn't the best and his mother had nothing planned for him, so we bought cup cakes and give him a gift card.
Saturday...wife-of went to mountains with a group of ladies for the night...took daughter and her friend to breakfast. Agreed to let son-of's friends hang for another night. They spent Saturday alternating between basketball and football and roaming the neighborhood looking for pick-up games. Did some BB practice with daughter working on her post game. 2 of son's friends were gamecock fans (we try to teach our kids tolerance) and were mouthing off at the start of our game so I banished the whole group to the upstairs and watched the game solo. No comment on game.
Sunday...went out and good biscuits for the boys. Hit Japanese steak house for lunch with daughter and did some shopping for her. Watched NFL. Went to Gville to pick-up wife. Picked up a smoothie for dinner and in bed by 9:30.

Fri - pizza with lil one and bro's psycho kid. Live band and can drive in the Alley was good.
Sat - Played a little golf, poorly. Watched football, back to golf course to practice and "figured it out." Got banged up that evening while watching more football. Won some bets.
Sun - Recovery. Back to golf course to practice some more and lost "it" overnight. Oh well. Music bingo and wife won $10 gift card - woo hoo!
Bro had to go to ER last week. Cousins mother fell down the stairs in Charleston, broken eye socket, multiple ribs, still in hospital. I chipped a tooth on a dammned Zero candy bar. Other than all that, pretty good stuff.
