Clemson & FSU have to win all Conf games to go (6-2) & (8-0) respectively, then
Louisville - Loses to NCST Duke Miami (5-3)
Duke - Loses to NCST FSU UNC (5-3)
UNC - Loses to Clemson Miami (6-3)
NCST - Loses to Clemson Miami UNC (5-3)
Miami - Loses to Clemson FSU (6-2)
Syracuse- Loses Clemson FSU (6-2)
GT Wake VT Pitt UVA BC don’t have a chance
Weirder things have happened, also of courses we need to beat ND & coots to make it a respectable ACCCG

I think Duke is the only team we’d need to be 5-3. Otherwise we can’t pass them. But we just need Louisville to lose to common opponent. UNC and NC State can be 6-2 as long as we win head to head. The tie breakers are so ridiculous I could be missing something though. I wish the ACC had simply used CFP rankings as the tie breakers. It would have been best for TV ratings and for maximizing chances of CFP participation. So of course they didn’t do it.

Thnx for cranking through that. Getting Louisville and Duke to both lose to NCSU is going to be tough. I thought the Pack looked hideous vs. UVA. Anyway, start finding out Friday night when the Cardinals go to Raleigh.

In a sensible world

In a sensible world our tie with Florida State would be factored in.
In a sensible world we would be looking at 6-1-1 for a possible final conference record … and would chart out ahead of any/all 6-2-0 teams.
No, I’m not suggesting that this exists … and, yes, I know that the loss is a loss. What I am saying is that FOR EVALUATION PURPOSES the FSU game should be evaluated as a tie.

This is the ACC we’re dealing with… nothing sensible about it.

If that is the path, we will know Friday night when the Ville plays State.

8 ACC Championships in the 15 seasons (if you’re right). We had won 6 in the previous 30 seasons, including 5 under Danny Ford. Dabo has more than tripled the rate at which we win championships over the previous 30 years. What expectation would you have had for the next 15 seasons when he was initially made full time head coach in 2009? What would your minimum expectations have been after his new contract after the 2nd national title? Would winning ACC championships more than half the time been a reasonable expectation? With a resurgent FSU? With 4 ranked ACC teams and 5 overall ranked teams on the schedule? If Dabo is held to an ever increasing standard how come the same does not apply to Brad Brownell who has gotten a raise every season he has coached here including several large escalations. All without a regular season title or even an appearance in the ACC final.

It actually doesn't take as much as you think

if we win out in the ACC, and Duke is 5-3 and all other teams have at least 2 losses we almost assuredly would be in. We would own h2h over everyone else at that point that could be tied. In the case of Louisville, if we were tied at 6-2 that means we would have a higher win % over common opponents as Duke and FSU wouldn't be common opponents.
Also, we can still go to the ACCCG even if Duke is 6-2. There would just need to be a 3rd team at 6-2 that we beat and they lost to. For example, a UNC or NCSU. By a glance at the tiebreakers, we are likely the team emerging from that 3 way at that point.
Bottomline, we want FSU to win out, Duke to lose 3 or more ACC games, Louisville to lose at least 2 and UNC to drop 1 besides ours. Those are the biggest things. NCSU over Louisville does help in accomplishing 1 of those.

actually, we were doing this just 2 years ago - 2021. We started the season 4-3 but heading into the final weekend we were 6-2 in the league and just needed 2 things to happen. NCSU lose to UNC on Friday night and BC upsetting WF in Boston. NCSU fluked their way to a victory over UNC by scoring 2 TDs in less than 30 seconds in the final 2 minutes thanks to an onside kick. That game then made the WF game pointless from our perspective other than to keep the Wolfies out of the ACCCG
