How to stop the Clemson offense

Press coverage, deep safeties, make Boyd come off his primary read. Contain him in the pocket and he will run himself into sacks. If you sit back and play zone and let him find his #1 receiver and he will kill you. I assume we will be see O.S.U. attempt to man up and play safeties over the top and hope that their pass rush gets to Boyd before our primary receiver gets open.

I just don't think our running backs can win the game for us. Hot Rod is a solid back but benefits from our passing game. I think O.S.U. will be more than content to sit back and let Rod McDowell attempt to beat them instead of Sammy Watkins.

one would think so, but he proved the last two years against the coots that not to be true. both years we were gashing them with the run and he stopped. hard to figure!

Most of this TB critique has been about the coot games. Fudge them. They are playing (once again) in central Fla for some credit card bowl. Can we please forget the darn coots? We are playing a team that has lost one game in two years. The Ohio St. Coots would give their wishbone to have a sniff at the OSU tradition. Let's talk about our second BCS in two years while the coots play on "It's a Small World After-all."

At least we were in the Noles game. O.S.U. and USCe run a similar system that includes a running Q.B. and a bruising tailback. They attempt to run the ball and control the clock. I feel like the Coot and O.S.U. comparison is apt.

Connor Shaw's running would have meant nothing if we didn't turn the ball over 6 times. The coots only had 178 yards passing. The defense played good. Seriously you need about 5 years of intense Football 101, before you keep on continuing to post this non sense.

McDowell is steady, but is not going to break off enough big runs to win a game for you. Same with Boyd running the ball. We have to get the ball to the outside to Sammy. If O.S.U. makes us hand the ball to McDowell instead of throwing it to Sammy and Bryant we are in trouble.

Arizona's coach has said publicly that they limit his snaps in hopes to reduce his chances of injury. I love AE, he's a great back when he is healthy, and had an excellent rookie year. Arizona has found the perfect role for him. 15 or less carries and around 3-5 receptions.

He throws an excellent deep ball, can pick up tough yards, and is a good leader.
He is also sporadic in terms of accuracy, can be rattled, has terrible pocket awareness, and plays tight against South Carolina.
I'll take the good with the bad but I don't think we take a huge step back next year at the QB position.

Hard to knock the greatest QB we ever had. I hate losing to Usuck as much as anyone. But theres more to those loses than TB. Namely when your DEFENSE can't get off the field.

At the same time, he did very little to win any of those games. Like I said, I'll take the good with the bad, but Boyd enjoyed inflated stats by playing against a majority of overmatched teams, where his primary receivers were generally physically superior to whoever they matched up against. He really struggles when great defenses force him to go through his reads and find the next W.R.

Down the hashmarks into the safety instead of down the sideline to our 6'5 receiver. He had a chance to make the USC game interesting at the end, but instead, threw the exact same pick he threw against F.S.U. Which is down the down the hashmarks line drive to a double or triple covered Watkins. When he needs to make a big play, it's only going to the the primary WR, regardless of who is open.

Boyd has been a great QB for us, but he has a few serious flaws in his game. Like I said, he has brought a stability to the QB position the our team needed, but his struggles to deal with pressure can't be over looked.

This year Rod benefitted from having USC pull LB's off the field to cover our receivers. Running more would have had a diminishing returns (IMO). You are not going to ride Rod McDowell to a win against a good defense.

And instead of running Hot Rod, who was busting runs all over the place. He ran Tajh twice leading to 2nd fumble.
And V. foolishly did not use a spy against Connor. When asked about it against OSU - he mumbled something about yes, it can be effective, then again it might not be...
I would like to see both coaches admit their mistakes!

It was Crawford at times and Beasley at other times. Neither did a good job. I would have given the task to a LB or DB but he might have been concerned about coverage break downs. Beasley SHOULD be fast enough to catch him but never did.

In fact, our offensive play calling was great and led to us averaging nearly 7 yards per play. The reason we lost this year is very simple, and there's no reason to nitpick to try to find other things to complain about. You're simply not going to win with 6 turnovers, esp when 3 of them are on punt returns on your side of the field. Our game plan was great and would've worked if Adam Humphries could've held onto the ball.

If nothing else, other teams will kick away from him and improve our field position. I know he had a few issues, but on the whole, I'll take Sammy over Hump in every phase of the game.

Like last year with Nuk they'd rather ensure the punt is fielded and let the offense work then have a high risk low reward of a punt return. Sammy has yet to average an significant punt return yards in any case.

Once was against MD and they scored off of it. The other was this year against UGA and if not for Crawford and a well timed play by Venables it could have swung momentum the other way. Hump has only fumbled the kick off once from what I can remember. One of those this year was on Bryant. The other was all on him.

I don't disagree with all your points, but your credibility isn't all that great when it comes to things like this.
Nothing drew has said is really off-base, and pretty much every NFL scouting report agrees.
Every knock on Tajh has been his decision making ability and ability to read a defense. If it makes one "clueless about football" to point out that very obvious truth, then I guess that makes all the NFL scouts clueless too.

coming from a conference that doesn't have good passing attacks. Just stop with this out right false hood that Tajh only locks on to his number one receiver. I've watched Tajh for 3 years. He did that a little bit his sophomore season, but he has not done that his junior and senior seasons. Seriously whats up with all your hate towards Tajh. If you don't like our players go pull for another team.

Tajh proved last year against LSU what kind of QB he is - and all of that nonsense about putting up all of his big numbers against weaker teams is just that - nonsense. I guess Charlie Whitehurst played in another conference!

TigerKing has a problem differentiating valid criticism and personal attacks. I think Boyd has been a great QB for Clemson, but he has some flaws that show up in inopportune games.

do in the secondary, OSU does not. They will have to blitz and pray like most teams. If they rattle Tajh with the blitz then trouble insues.
