I am totally convinced now that receivers do not get open because of speed alone. Got the Youtube TV 4 game split screen going. I am watching TD after TD where receivers look like they are out to lunch alone because of the offensive scheme and play calling. They can do it......we can do it....

Route running is a skill that must be taught to wide receivers, especially at this level when the DBs have speed as good or better than the receivers. In high school it's easy to find a lot of DBs who can't keep up with anybody; in college and pro ball you HAVE to do more than just outrun the opponent. It's absolutely clear to me that Clemson has not had anyone on the football staff who can teach any route running skills. The fact that Swinney hasn't already fixed this is disconcerting.
