It is a little ironic that some of the things we accused DJ of being bad at cropped up with Cade in the first game as well. All of this continues to sound like a lack of focus on fundamentals and that has to fall at the feet of coaches.

I learned a few things

1. Briningstool played a bad game both route running and blocking
2. We actually have WRs open. Cade just has to calm down, go through his reads and hit them. He also needs to work on throwing with anticipation.
3. I miss the QB (specifically DW4 and TL16) being able to audible out of plays and adjust their blocking at the LOS. I noticed that the coaches haven’t let QBs do that since they left.

Great post! I wish I knew where this guy was getting that full field perspective video. I would love to go rewatch some games from that POV, since the normal TV angles don't show what our receivers are doing downfield.
What really stands out to me is the WR route running. Either some of those plays were just awful play designs (doubtful) or the receivers were getting confused or forgetting their route (i.e. Collins going to block for a screen when that wasn't the play design).
If that's the case, how in the world did the offense look so good in fall camp?
Did our offense just forget how to play on Monday?
Does our defense suck that bad to where the offense moved the ball at will during camp even with the poor routes?
Are we just an world-class practice team that falls apart on game day?
Or was Dabo trying to intimidate our opponents with coach speak knowing good and well our offense hadn't improved a bit?

That guy knows his stuff and pointed out several deficiencies:
* Bad route running - some were just lazy and at least one ran right into coverage when he could've stopped and been open.
* WR and RB drops - can't do that and be successful.
* Bad reads by Cade - on the fumble and on several pass plays.
* Bad blocking by TEs - no excuse for it.
It looked like the OL played OK, so I have to agree with Dabo that it was a strange game that showed promise with this team if they clean up the mistakes.

Yes, great find and post Spud. To your point CT66, sadly it is correctable but by and large, except for cade, these are veteran players.
So yes Dabo is right, all correctable but not sure it's immediate. Especially for Cade. I do think Cade will be better as the season progresses.

many of those things are fixable, but then they might not be.
A big disappointment of the last two years is WR blocking. prior to '21, our WR's were great at blocking downfield and it was common to see db's on their ###.
Methinks that is coaching, because it doesn't take that much natural talent, it takes tenacity.
