We're bound to crap the bed against either Lousiville, BC, NC State or GT. The fact that you're so sure we're going to go 10-2 is the scary part. I think most people would bet on 8-4 before 10-2.

Man, I admit it yesterday I was pi$$ed as H3LL at losing and it still stings and yes it's hard to just brush ourselves off and say " go Tigers" but you are burning bridges and it might be you can't find a way back to a place where you are pleased with Clemson. Just saying, don't let the sting of this defeat tear you apart. Not talking down to you psycho tea. I really do feel your pain. Just find a way to move forward and in time, maybe not this year, we can be the team we all hope for. Just thought I'd put that out there. I really do feel your pain. Thanks for reading.

spiller: I like your points and agree. In a curious way this debacle in Tally just might be what was needed to get us over the top. I don't know how we make the special teams better, we need a reliable place kicker and ;let's not forget about Cole He'd see the field if I were in charge as I think he can still be a big contributor to this team. I loved BV defense and when we play aggressive like that we're a tough out. I certainly hope our coaches have done some soul searching as I really believe there were calls and lack thereof that they would change in retrospect. I believe we go 9-2 and then the Coots. If our coaches mature as I suspect they might, we beat them. If not well only time will tell.

We should wipe the floor with the remaining teams on our schedule other than perhaps possibly the coots (which I think is still a W). You can bash Dabo all you want, but he hasn't lost to far inferior competition in the past several years, unlike what became the reg under Bowden.

Lost to GT, NC State and WVU. Using your logic, we should have all bet our houses on us beating UGA this season. I mean who else had we lost to but Scar and FSU right?

Using my logic we should not pack it in after 3 games in a season. We should also not run our coaches out of town given what's been accomplished during their tenure.
That's my logic, bro.

I think we need to improve this year and beat the coots, and I don't think Dabo needs to be fired. But I think if he loses to the coots this year, and loses to both FSU and the coots again next year, he needs to be let go.

Spiller: you must have had a great weekend or got lucky! You're making so much sense today. I for one do not feel, suggest think etc that we should run our coaches out of town. Dabo is still young and that is a fact. hopefully he learns when to be the CEO and take control. BV IMO is tops and his admission that in retrospect he would have doubled Green with 6 minutes plus left speaks volumes to me about his coaching savy. Chad has done some great things for this program. My honest concern is his ability to make adjustments during the ongoing battle. I really would like to see him say once, I messed up and should have done x y or z. A good place to start might be not putting a power formation for first and goal on the 6 inch line. If these guys raise their game and our players raise theirs a bit, good luck beating the Tigers. I've only been a fan for some 5-6 years but from what I can gather it would be nice for teams to dread coming to DV because it meant---the D word!

Our team can ill afford to just quite. Maybe the seniors may not feel like there's much to play for other than a fat paycheck...or they may play their hearts out, we'll see.

10-2 with a win over the Coots and an Orange Bowl win would be the best season we've had in a while.
But literally everything has to go right for that to happen, which is what I fear some are upset about. Can we make it the rest of the season without slipping up?
I think so, but there's room for doubt I guess based on some untimely mistakes recently.

We have the best coaches since the Danny Ford era! We may have the best coordinators ever!
Yeah, we can criticize a play call, if it didn't work, but that is second-guessing which any idiot can do. (Yep, we have a few of those on this board!)

Anyone who thinks 10-2 (with or without a win against USC) is a wasted season really should find a different thing to follow than college football.
If 10-2 is somehow totally not enjoyable than you are setting yourself up for nothing but pain for 95% of the seasons of 99% of the teams.

What would have been accomplished?
Sep 22, 2014, 4:39 PM
|
|
We don't put defenses like this one on the field very often anymore. This one was special and they're not going to win their division, much less the conference or play for a national title.
Do people even realize how much we are losing on defense next year? This talk about a high preseason ranking and next year makes me think not. And those same people will be back next year throwing young defensive players under the bus to protect Saint Dabo from criticism.
With a lack of all context, 10-2 looks good. Once you measure the talent we have, it's really about the worst we should have expected. Instead everyone seems enthralled to beat a bunch of cupcakes and accomplish nothing of any lasting importance.
But if that's good enough for Clemson fans, then I guess that's what we will continue to get. To not only revel in this, but #### on anyone who wants Clemson to be an elite program is baffling to me. Just completely baffling.

Poker: you make some great points. I would love to see the Tigers keep all the good in the program in place and become a truly elite program. I do believe, however, that this game against FSU is time for some on this site to throw away the rose colored glasses and look at reality. Sure some of our players made some errors but in my humble opinion so did the coaching staff on about 4-5 fronts that have been discussed. Dabo and his team are fairly young and if they are going to be tops in their field they will use this game as a teaching event for themselves. We'll see!

If you don't think that coaching played a role in our defeat, I'd recommend you enroll in a program for serially optimists! I've only been around the Tiger program for apporx. 6 years and I love the Tigers. It is rather disturbing that when anyone points out some very questionable moves by this coaching staff, they are basically accuse of being Coots or whatever else. You and that York fellow really need to understand that there just might, just might be people who know a little more about various aspects of coaching than either of you do. I've attempted to explain it as clear as I can but the fact remains that our coaching staff has a tendency to make some, not all, rather curious moves when faced with a comparably skilled opponent. That in no way means that they should be shown nthe door. What it does mean is that need to con tin ue to hone their professional skills.

expecting to have a reasonable conversation with a bunch of Eeyores is not a worthwhile use of my time. I apologize that my desire to not throw the whole program and coaching staff under the bus after 3 games of a season reveals my lack of football knowledge. I think your pulse pretty much speaks for itself in terms of the number of folks that generally agree with you. Is that due to your football genius as well?

I don't believe it is pessimistic to look at the reality of a situation, and the reality is that this year was set up perfectly for Clemson to make a run. Not next year, when we break in eight new defensive starters and three new OL starters (on an already bad OL). Next year 10-2 might be a great season, or even an amazing accomplishment.
This year we had just enough to get over the hill and make a run, and THEN we had a gift handed to us by the FSU President. And we choked. There's really no other way I can see it.
All of DABO'S goals are out the window outside of beating South Carolina. I understand why HE can't come out and say it's a lost season, but I #### sure hope he's thinking it. I sure as #### hope he's not sitting here like you are dreaming of being 10-2 and how awesome it'll be to play in another exhibition game in Miami.
The sad thing is that even if the wheels fall off and we tumble to 8-4 or 7-5, all the same people will be making all the same excuses and talking about what a "dumper" I am for not being happy with it.
In 2011 it looked like we were on the way up. Three years later we have stalled and stagnated. That should be frustrating to every Clemson fan. I shouldn't have to spend hours on here EXPLAINING why we shouldn't be happy about losing ANOTHER opportunity to accomplish our stated goals.
