Nolan Turner

Nolan Turner is the surprise player of the season for me.
I honestly thought offering a scholarship to this non-rated HS player was an humanitarian act by Dabo, based on his relationship with Nolan's father.
Turner has not just played quality minutes in big games, but he's made big plays. He's a player. Congrats to Nolan Turner for developing into a dependable player on the back end of the defense.

So happy for those under the radar guys like Turner. What guys like that do is build your program in incalculable ways. Who is to say Turner doesn't come back in 10 years and start coaching at Clemson.
I am not going to say Dabo is infallible but he has more than earned our respect and if he picks a kid and gives him a scholarship I for one am going to take notice and cheer that player on just like I would a five star player like Trevor or Christian.

The star ratings do not include the most important factors, "heart" and "attitude". Those are important factors in Dabo's and his statf's assessment.

"greatest passing attack in the history of college ball, Tua and company" was composed of 4 three-stars and a N/R. Don't ever question Dabo on his player assessments. You will just end up looking stupid in the end.

What he is talking about is when we had 4 safeties on the field and number 11. At that point all of the secondary was 3 star and below. It was for one play in the 4th quarter. I’ve seen the post the man is talking about. But you all are absolutely right are corners are studs.

I don’t care where the services had him rated I watched his recruiting videos when they posted his signing and he could run, cover and lay the wood. This staff finds players and coaches them up and sometimes offers those with connections like Turner and the Davis twins. Most of the credit goes to the players themselves because they put in the work and have self belief. You can’t play at this level with talent alone.

Everything he does is about making his team the best and putting Clemson first. If he takes a charity case it will benefit us more than if he didn't do it.

I don't know Nolan Turner with the exception of what I see on the field and the media coverage about him. Most of that coverage revolves around losing his Dad way too young and how he an his siblings are having to fight to collect what seems to be rightfully theirs from their Father's Estate. I also know Nolan because Tigernet Recruiting gurus could not believe that Dabo would "waste" a scholarship on a kid of his Buddy who was a zero star. I watched his HS highlights and they were impressive. But the noise about legacies continued on the board.
I was pulling for Nolan last year when he was busting his tail on special teams. I really thought he would break through and block a punt last year. This year as he got more playing time at Safety, I was happy to see him out there but worried about our depth with Van Smith leaving. He got better as the season went on. I am not sure that would happen anywhere else but Clemson where it is a priority to build depth by having reserves play meaningful snaps all year long. Sometimes that is frustrating to fans. "Dang we gave up a first down because the backups were in". I was so happy both for our team and for Nolan when he picked up the pass against Notre Dame.
Nolan is not the best player on this team, but he is my favorite player. He plays a dangerous sport that contributed to the early death of his Father without hesitation to give 100%. He plays it at the utmost highest "amateur" level in front of packed stadiums. Many of those people said he did not belong. Dabo said he belonged though. He came from great football genes. Dabo knew how the kid was raised and what kind of heart he has. It turns out, he is who Dabo thought he was.
Of all the great players and young men on this team to choose as a favorite, Why not Nolan Turner
